Ridley Scott Reveals How He Would Bring Maximus Back for GLADIATOR 2

Recently, we posted an article about how director Ridley Scott wanted to make a sequel to Gladiator. Which, Ok. Fine. But, the catch was, he wanted to bring back Maximus... who died at the end of the first movie. That sequel is probably never gonna happen, but Scott recently explained in an interview with ME. Movies how it would have worked, how he would have brought Maximus back, saying:

"I can bring him back. I know how to bring him back. I use the [body] of a dying warrior as a portal that could bring somebody back."

Scott, Nick Cave and Russel Crowe, had all talked about it and wrote it up and they knew just how to do it. Bringing him back through a portal in the body of a dying warrior was the way to go. So, it seems like it would have been more of a Gladiator fantasy film.

"Russell, me and Nick Cave, it was about bringing him back. It was a good idea. It's on the shelf somewhere at Dreamworks... [Russell] said listen. I've got some thoughts, 'What can we do about Gladiator?' I said, 'I can bring you back.' That's how it began. He'd been working with Nick Cave, so then we talked--the three of us-- and out of it evolved a screenplay."

While I respect Scott as a brilliant filmmaker who has brought us some fantastic films... this is dumb. Not just the portal through a dead body, but making a sequel to a film that isn't fantasy and then making it fantasy. What if they made a sequel to Braveheart but brought Mel Gibson's William Wallace back as a Cyborg? What the hell?

Now, that being said. If anyone could pull it off, it would be Ridley Scott. He has done some pretty crazy out there things that have worked brilliantly from bursting Alien fetus' to poo potatoes from The Martian. Maybe portals in dead bodies are gonna be the next cool thing.

CAPTAIN AMERICA Director Joe Johnston Set to Helm New Narnia Film THE SILVER CHAIR

The Narnia films have been rather successful for a franchise. Especially when considering all the giants it's been up against. Harry Potter, every superhero film, Twilight. But over the years Narnia has still held strong. Well, the next film in the franchise, which will be an adaptation of The Silver Chair, looks to continue that strength by hiring Joe Johnston to direct.

Joe Johnston is a fantastic director known for helming films such as Jumanji, the first Captain America film, and The Rocketeer, which is one of my personal favorites. He's very good at understanding characters and relationships, especially on a smaller more intimate level. I think he would be a great choice for this film and so does Mark Gordon, C.S. Lewis's stepson who's production company will be teaming up for this film. He said this of Johnston:

"Joe is a wonderful storyteller who is equally at home in the biggest franchises and the most intimate character pieces. Because C.S. Lewis' story is iconic and epic, but also tender, personal, and emotional, he's the perfect choice to bring 'The Silver Chair' to the screen."

The Silver Chair will serve as both a reboot and sequel to the Chronicles of Narnia film franchise. Let's hope that audiences are ready to continue the adventure.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie Gets a 2019 Release Date! I Have the Power!!!

Sony Pictures has set a release date for their live-action big screen adaptation of Masters of the Universe. I wish I could say I was excited about this movie because I'm a huge fan of the He-Man franchise. Unfortunately, McG (Charlie's Angels, Terminator: Salvation) is still attached to direct it. McG hasn't really directed any movie that's impressed me. He's a mediocre director that makes forgettable films and Master of the Universe shouldn't be a film that's forgettable!

The studio set a release date for September 20th, 2019, so we've still got awhile before we actually start seeing anything from the movie. When previously talking about his plan for the film, McG said:

“I think we want to honor the fan base, first and foremost. We also need to be cognizant of the incredible resonance of what Kevin Feige is doing with Marvel, and the balance of full-bodied entertainment. That it’s both credible and emotional, action-packed, and the story of a hero’s journey. It’s the genesis of He-Man, it’s the becoming of He-Man. We want it to be clicking on all cylinders in that regard. We’re not going to stop until we get it right. Listen, I love that movie with Frank [Langella] and Dolph [Lundgren]. I watch it, and it’s a tremendous pleasure for me to watch. I’m raised on the toys, and I’m down at Mattel all the time. We’re just really focused on getting it right. I want it to be full-bodied entertainment that respects the fan base, and is more emotional than you might imagine, inventive and original. Obviously, we’re all cognizant of what’s going on with Game of Thrones. It’s incredible. We’re cognizant of what’s going on in Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn’s doing a great job. We’re going to try to answer the call and take it higher.”

I would love it if McG actually pulled this off and made an amazing Masters of the Universe movie. It would definitely surprise the hell out of me. Being a fan, though, doesn't necessarily mean it makes the person the right man for the job. Hell, the guy considered casting Kellan Lutz in the movie, which is a terrible choice. We'll just have to wait and see how this turns out.

Sony Pictures also announced that Angry Birds 2 is set to be released on September 20, 2019, and the untitled animated Spider-Man is now set to hit theaters on December 14, 2018.

Reebok Announces Two ALIENS-Themed Shoes Based on The Power Loader and Alien Queen

Last year Reebok released a limited series of shoes that Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley wore in James Cameron's Aliens. They are taking the Aliens-themed shoes to the next level! Reebok has announced two new shoes that they are adding to the collection that are a must have!

The shoes are called the Alien Stomper "Final Battle" Pack and consists of two pairs of shoes. One pair is inspired by the Alien Queen. The other is a pair was inspired by the yellow Power Loader that Ripley kicked the Alien Queen's ass with. Hence the "Final Battle" name.

The climactic clash from Aliens has inspired this highly collectible double-pack of Alien Stompers, launching on July 18th in unisex sizing.

As you see in the photos, these things turned out great! When talking about the design for the Power Loader shoes, designer Xavier Jones said:

"I wanted to keep it as close to the OG spec as possible. But I embellished it with those details if you were a die-hard fan you would get it as soon as you see it."
“The obvious thing would be the stripes that are featured on the foot of the machine. I took design influence from the top of the canopy of the machine where it was a net, so I added a mesh on top of the label.
“Calling back to the original series of the shoe, it was a machine, the P5000, so I added that on the strap as well.”

The creator of the Alien Queen shoe design said:

“It was pretty awesome, I never thought I’d get to design for a franchise I was a fan of. When this came around where I got to be involved and drive the creation process was pretty cool.
“The materials are black patent leather to give that black slimy wet look of the alien. I wanted to keep everything blacked out and ominous like the alien itself.”
“Parts of it are blacked out but glow in the dark. The XX121 on the shoe is the original name of the Xenomorph and I just dropped off the numbers. So that was just a nod that fans would get and if you’re not a fan you wouldn’t notice it.”

Alien Stomper "Final Battle" Pack will get a very limited release on July 18. If you attempt to buy it, I hope you succeed!

Zoe Saldana Would Love to Be in Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE

Zoe Saldana has been a part of a few big sci-fi film franchises like Star Trek, Avatar, and Guardians of the Galaxy. There's another sci-fi film franchise that she'd love to be a part of, though, and that's Dune

During the recent press conference for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that I attended last week, the actress was asked what another sci-fi film she'd want to be a part of and this is what she said:

"Dune. I was Lady Jessica every other Halloween. When I wasn’t a Bene Gesserit, I was a ninja. So I would love to be in Dune. And I heard that Denis Villeneuve is thinking about revisiting it, and I hope he decides to do it... David Lynch did a great job, but I was six when I saw Dune. It would be Dune."

Villeneuve is already officially set to direct Dune, so if he's looking for someone to play Lady Jessica, Saldana is totally willing to do it! I think it'd be pretty cool to see the actress end up being cast in the film. Hopefully, he gets wind of this and extends an offer to her.

New Photo and Details From Disneyland’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – MISSION BREAKOUT!

As much as I love Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm still upset that Disney replaced The Twilight Zone-themed ride Tower of Terror with Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission BREAKOUT!. An official photo recently surfaced that you can see above, and Disney recently invited some journalists to take a "hard hat" tour of the new attraction.

I don't know about you, but that building is an eyesore. I'm not a big fan of the ugly design, but there's apparently a reason for it. Danny Handke, creative director for the project from Walt Disney Imagineering told the OC Register that, "It embodies the spirit of 'The Collector,' a villain in the movie. It’s weird, it’s bold, grandiose and it’s arrogant, like the character." Benicio Del Toro reprises his role for the ride, as does Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana and more. He goes on to say:

"The organic matter that they mine on Knowhere flows through these pipes, which power the giant generator that keeps every cage [in the collection] locked and secured," Handke said. "So if the generator ever happens to go out, then that would be utter chaos, so that's a very important story point that we wanted to start telling at the exterior of the building."

The general plot of the ride is then explained:

The premise is that a villain, known as "The Collector – Taneleer Tivan" from the movies, has captured the five Guardians, and has put them on display, along with many other creatures inside his "fortress" here on Earth. He is so proud of the collection that he has opened his fortress up for tours.
However, while on their tour, visitors find out that Rocket, the raccoon, escapes and enlists their aid in helping his fellow Guardians escape – and that’s where and when the free falling elevator portion of the original Tower of Terror ride takes place, with a few differences.

The cast members who run and operate the attraction will all be a part of the show as well. They will be playing employees of The Collector. It's said that they will "appear to be excited when visitors first enter, but they’re walking on eggshells because they know they’re being watched by The Collector." They will also hint that they want to help the Guardians and the visitors escape.

It was revealed they there are "six versions of the ride portion of the attraction, with a computer randomly picking which version riders will see, hear and (when they zoom up and free fall down) feel." They also said that instead of a slow start to the top, they want to "high-impact zoom."

There are also going to be a ton of Easter eggs for fans to look for throughout the experience. The Collector’s museum will be packed to the brim with artifacts from the movies, comics, TV shows, and more. There are 2,200 props on display in the ride and apparently the collection in the lobby will be changed up every now and then.

Music also plays an integral part in the ride and they've picked out six song from the first two films that will be used in it. Those song include "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar, "Give up the Funk" by Parliament, "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf, "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5, "Burning Love: by Elvis Presley and "Free Ride" by The Edgar Winters Group.

It sounds like it'll be fun! The attraction opens to the public May 27th. You can watch a video reaction below talking all about it from Theme Park Insider, along with some previously release concept art.

David Fincher is Officially Set to Direct WORLD WAR Z 2!

David Fincher is officially set to direct Brad Pitt in World War Z 2! There were reports early in the year that he was in talks to direct and that he was creatively interested in doing it. Well, the deal has been sealed and I'm super excited!

Fincher is one of my favorite director working in the business and I can't wait to see what he ends up doing with the zombie genre! I never thought I'd see Fincher make a zombie movie but he obviously has a vision for the film and he's excited to develop it. I have no doubt that he'll give us something different and unique with the genre.

Pitt and Fincher have made some great films together such as Seven, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I couldn't be happier that they will be working together again on World War Z 2. According to a previous report, "Fincher was looking to make the film about a man and his family navigating a zombie apocalypse."

Apparently, we can all thank Paramount Picture's new chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos for making this happen. He has a long-standing relationship with the director. According to Variety, the film will most likely go into production early 2018.

This will be the first film that Fincher will have directed since Gone Girl in 2014. What do you all think of the filmmaker taking on World War Z 2
