Ewan McGregor is in talks to star in Disney’s Winnie the Pooh-inspired film Christopher Robin. There's no word on who he'll exactly be playing in the film but I assume he will be taking on the title role of the adult version of Christopher Robin, which is a role he would be perfect for. In my mind, he's exactly what the character might look like as an adult. He's got those bright eyes and smile that have a child-like wonder to them.
The story centers around an adult version of Christopher, the human boy from the classic A.A. Milne Winnie the Pooh series. The plot is very similar to Steven Spielberg's Hook, check it out:
Robin has grown out of the joyful imagination he had as a young boy and is now a businessman who prioritizes work over his wife and daughter. With his home life on the brink, the last thing his life needs is the return of Pooh, who needs his help in finding his friends again. Robin has to find a way to help both sides or risk losing everything he holds dear.
The project is also described as having "strong elements of magical realism as it seeks to tell an emotional journey that is combined with a heartwarming adventure."
World War Z director Marc Forster is set to direct the film from a script written by Hidden Figures scribe Allison Schroeder. The Jungle Book's Brigham Taylor is also a producing the film. This seems like a solid team of talent!
McGregor is such a talented actor and I hope everything works out and that he joins the project because he would be great in the role!
Our Tyrants of Cosplay series continues with a couple of fun individuals who travel to conventions all over the country providing cosplay repair to cosplayers in need of a costume fix. Looks like Zack and Billy aren't on board with the new Power Rangers film. Walter Jones spoke to Comicbook at C2E2 and the former Black Ranger had issue with how his character was changed for the feature film...
“I was a little disappointed that they changed the characters around a little bit because I wanted Zack to be with his kido because Hip Hop Kido was a really important element of who I was on Power Rangers. I think if they would have added that then there could have been some parkour and there could have been so many other elements to that character that it would have been awesome.”
As for David Yost (Billy), the blue ranger has never been too high on the original Power Rangers due to his experience on set, but even he took issue with the new film...
“The only thing I care about progression wise when they do a sequel and they morph they better bring it and they better say “It’s Morphin Time.” When we said, 'It’s morphing time!,' it was like, 'Shit’s about to go down;' when they said it in the movie it was so lackadaisical I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’”
Do you agree with Jones and Yost? I see their point but, this film wasn't a rehash of the 90s. What's your take?
Last night's episode of The Flash was a doozy, and while I'm still not positive I know who Savitar is, perhaps this extended promo will give you a better clue ahead of next week's big reveal. This clip features an extended monologue from Barry which mentions that Savitar knows the past, present, and future...which I guess we knew but it jumpstarts my memory to hear it again. Take a listen and if you want to hear my theory stick around below.
Ok, so I've wrestled with this one awhile and I think I have it down to one of two options. My first guess is that Savitar is the fake Jay Garrick aka Hunter Zolomon. That would make sense considering we saw some weird ass ghost thing near the end of Season 2 before he popped into the speed force and would justify Caitlin's reaction to seeing him. Zolomon was pretty close with all the current members (minus Julian) so he would definitely know their weaknesses.
My second guess is Wally through some weird psychotic break in the speed force, but I don't understand why he would kill Iris...there's a lot about it that doesn't make sense but I have this nagging feeling. Who do you think Savitar is?
A prologue short has been released for Alien: Covenant and it reveals what happened to Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the synthetic android David after the events of Prometheus when they blast off into space on board the abandoned Engineer vessel in search for the home planet of the Engineers. I have no idea if this will be included in the movie or not, but it's a fascinating video that's definitely worth checking out. David is no doubt up to no good.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
The first teaser trailer for The Tick is here, and it's a bit underwhelming. We see the antennae, hear a "NEAT", and then see the premiere date of August 25th. The trailer is only 30 seconds long, so if you really have to see it, by all means, give it a look below, but I hit the important highlights for you already.
The series also stars Peter Serafinowicz in the title role, Griffin Newman (Vinyl), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Valorie Curry (House of Lies), Yara Martinez (Jane the Virgin), and Brendan Hines (Scorpion).
The story is set "in a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an underdog accountant with no superpowers at all (Griffin) realizes his city is owned by a global supervillain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover the conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero: the Tick (Serafinowicz)."
I still haven't seen M. Night Shyamalan'sSplit (I know, I know — I'll get to it as soon as I can!), but just because I've fallen behind doesn't those of you who caught the film in theaters should be punished for it. So here: take a look at the latest episode of Earthling Cinema, which analyzes the hidden meaning in the movie. It's a pretty spoiler-filled video so watch at your own risk. Also try to keep things spoiler free in the comments for those other poor suckers who haven't seen it yet.
