Brie Larson is going to embark on one of her greatest adventures when she plays Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel in the MCU. She's a rising star in Hollywood and Captain Marvel will most certainly be her biggest role to date.
Taking on the role of Captain Marvel wasn't an easy one for her to make. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she said is took "a really long time" to make the decision to do it, especially with the secrecy involved with the project because she couldn't talk about it to anyone. She explained:
“I had to sit with myself, think about my life and what I want out of it. Ultimately, I couldn’t deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up. I really, really feel like it’s worth it if it can bring understanding and confidence to young women—I’ll do it."
Before the announcement, the actress was "worried about the increased exposure, aggressive fans, and social-media trolling that would come with a starring role as a comic-book icon". But, ever since is was officially revealed that she was cast in the role and made her big debut at San Diego Comic-Con last year in Hall H, the experience for her has been great! She goes on to say:
"[Marvel’s] been very open to hearing my thoughts and my take on it, which has been great. I think that’s why they cast me: I have a lot of similarities to this character… and they want me to bring that into the movie."
I was personally happy with the choice Marvel made to have her play Captain Marvel because she's such a talented young actress that is sure to kick ass in the role.
Captain Marvel is being directed by indie filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who previously worked on Ryan Gosling’s Half Nelson and Ryan Reynolds’ Mississippi Grind. Thet will direct from a script written by Inside Out scribe Meg LeFauve and Guardians of the Galaxy scribe Nicole Perlman.
Apparently, the script is almost done and the film will most likely start shooting in February 2018. The film itself is set to be released on March 8, 2019.
