For years fans waited to Hugh Jackman to put on the classic Wolverine suit over the course of the X-Men films that he starred in, but it never happened. That's ok, though, Jackman's final film as Wolverine, Logan, was a masterpiece.
Well, it turns out that Hugh Jackman might finally put on that classic costume... for Halloween! The actor recently posted a photo of himself in a Halloween store holding one of those cheap Wolverine Halloween costumes.
Would it be hilarious if the next photo he shares of himself is of him wearing it?! That would be awesome.
Some Overwatch players (or maybe just certain online gamers in general) apparently really need some lessons in manners. Last month we brought you news that naughty vocal Xbox Overwatch players would find themselves muted. Hell, 5 months ago we told you about a Overwatch pro gamer that got benched for streaming porn. And now there's a new report of spamming over audio.
An Overwatch player has find himself on the silent end of his mic. After a few attempts at audio chatting in-game, the player realized that no one could hear him. He had been silenced. When he questioned Blizzard as to why, principal designer Scott Mercer provided him, and everyone else on Battle.net, with a clear answer.
Any form of hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or disruptive communications. Threatening or harassing another player on either team is also unacceptable, regardless of the words used. So YES, if you spam character voice lines in a way that is either disruptive or would be considered harassment, then you could be actioned.
So it's not just foul language that will get you silenced, but any form of spamming, grief, trolling or harassment will suffice to leave you screaming in the darkness without anyone being able to hear you. And this not only counts for voice chats, but in-line chats typed in without mics.
What do think about actions like this? Have you been silenced, or know someone who has, maybe someone who was unjustly silenced in your opinion? Or are you happy to see the spammers finally being cut off? Let us know.
If you're looking for some ways to kill time before Stranger Things goes live tomorrow, Netflix and Spotify have the hookup. According to Slashfilm, you can type in Stranger Things on your Netflix and once you arrive you'll see a red light glowing in the corner. Click that light and you'll be transported to the upside down version of your queue. I just tried it on Desktop and I'm going to be kind enough to warn YOU there's a jump scare if you sit there long enough, but you don't necessarily have to tell the person you show that.
As for Spotify, the service uploaded a bunch of playlists the characters would probably enjoy (Demogorgon included) and will attempt to match you with the character whose musical style suits you best. I haven't tried that one out due to fear I might be matched with the Demogorgon or Steve, but I'm sure it's just as fun as the Netflix Easter Egg. Check out both and get ready for Stranger Things to release late night tonight!
It looks like Olivia Munn (ThePredator) is replacing Zoe Saldana in the action thriller Hummingbird. Deadline Hollywood reportsthat the substitution came after Saldana experienced scheduling conflicts due to her commitments on the Avatar sequels.
Hummingbird tells the story of a female black-ops assassin (Munn) whose latest mark forces her to confront her true identity. It's directed by Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Akerström from a Black List script by John McClain.
Munn is known for her roles as Psylocke in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, X-Men: Apocalypse and her role in the HBO drama Newsroom. Munn is playing Casey Bracket in The Predator, which comes out on August 3rd. She'll also be seen in Ocean's Eight, which comes out on June 22nd.
Tom Hanks is one of my all-time favorite actors and I'm excited to report that he's set to star in a new sci-fi film project called Bios. The film will be helmed by Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik.
According to Variety, the story follows "a robot that lives on a post-apocalyptic earth. Built to protect the life of his dying creator’s beloved dog, it learns about love, friendship, and the meaning of human life. Hanks will play the ailing creator."
It sounds like a solid concept that will make for a wonderful film. I'm sure you can recognize that it uses elements from several other sci-fi films and stories that have come before.
Like many of you, I'm a big fan of the sci-fi genre and it's a genre that Tom Hanks isn't involved with very often, but this seems like a perfect film project for him to be a part of and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it.
The film will start shooting in 2018. Hanks can be seen next in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film The Post. He plays former Washington Post editor-in-chief Ben Bradlee.
I've got a cool trailer for a new sci-fi film coming out called Alien Invasion: S.U.M.1. Don't judge the movie by its title, though, because this really does look like a solid film and I liked what I saw in this trailer. It definitely sparked my curiosity. The film stars Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Inhumans) and this is the brief synopsis that came along with the trailer:
The Nonesuch – eerie, overpowering alien creatures – have forced humanity into hiding in a vast system of underground bunkers. Iwan Rheon (“Game of Thrones”) stars as a young soldier assigned to guard a lookout post on the surface to protect the few remaining stragglers.
We learn in the trailer that he is on set at this post for 100 days and that time is spent all alone in isolation. He has very little contact with what is left of the outside world. This isolation causes the young soldier to go a little crazy.
Alien Invasion S.U.M.1 is set to be released on December 1st. I'll be looking forward to checking it out! Watch the trailer and tell us if you think it looks like a film you'd want to watch.
One of my favorite video games to play when I was growing up was Konami's action game Contra. I'm sure many of you have fond memories of playing this game and I've got some great and exciting news for you!
Konami is teaming up with a Chinese media giant Starlight Media to develop a live-action Contra movie and TV series! The film was teased last year in a video that you can watch below, but now everything is official and set in stone.
In 1988, a huge meteorite lands on an uninhabited island in the South China Sea.
Chen Qiang and Li Zhiyong investigate but come up empty handed. 29 years later, Chen sends commandos Bill and Lance into a combat mission there to neutralize the villainous Red Falcon Organization, but end up facing a different enemy altogether.
Kotaku points out that the "storylines in the Japanese and English-language versions of the game were different, and the movie seems to be taking elements from both."
I hope that the film and series end up being good high-end quality productions. The plan is to release and stream these Contra project worldwide. As of right now there are no release dates set.
Some of the best Halloween costumes each year are based on popular movies that hit theaters in the months leading up to the spooky holiday. Now one of the funniest moments in Baby Driverseems to have followed that pattern and is most likely going to be a popular Halloween costume this year.
The masks are used in Edgar Wright's summer blockbuster, during a robbery when a trio of criminals accidentally buy three Mike Myers masks instead of the intended, and much scarier masked used by Halloween antagonist Michael Myers (the joke being that the fictitious killer and actor have the same name). You can watch the hilarious robbery scene below.
Apparently, the Austin Powers masks have sold out on costume sites and are no longer available on Amazon or eBay. And at least one Halloween site contacted by The Hollywood Reporter is kicking itself for not thinking to order some of the swinger-spy masks.
Wright says that he could not be more excited by the news.
"I'm very proud. I feel like through my career, I have given people some very easy Halloween costumes, like Shaun in Shaun of the Dead," Wright tells THR. "I even mentioned to Warner Bros. [which released Austin Powers under New Line Cinema] that they may ship a lot of masks at Halloween, and I think that's exactly what's happened."
Wright also explains that the Austin Powers mask moment happened out of legal necessity, and they had to change the scene because of it.
In the script, only one of the masks was going to be an Austin Powers mask, but the other two would be the correct masks of the slasher, making just one of the trio look like an idiot. Wright said the Baby Driver production didn't get clearance in time to use the horror masks, so, with Myers' and Warners' blessing, the script was altered to three Austin Powers masks.
Even Mike Myers is surprised to hear that the masks are so popular. "I'm equally proud of my work as the killer in Halloween as I am for my work in Austin Powers."
It is quite possible that the mask is extra popular because Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery turned 20 this year. But most are attributing the mask's success to its use in Baby Driver.
Wright regrets he didn't keep one of the masks for himself:
"I didn't think about that, but I probably should have," Wright says, adding, "The other funny thing about it that was once Jamie [Foxx] was in the mask, he started providing extra dialogue, so there are a lot of extra Austin Powers-isms. It was funny to have Jamie Foxx, Oscar-winning actor, wearing a rubber Mike Myers mask."
Following his appearance as Harry Mudd on a recent episode of Star Trek: Discovery, actor Rainn Wilson is wanting the character to get a spin-off series. Wilson recently talked about his hopes and aspirations for the character in a recent interview and we got what his plans are for his character (via Comicbook) below:
“This is what I would like to see in season two, episode four or so: They bump into Mudd, he's got a merchant ship, he's got a crazy crew on the merchant ship, and he's getting into all kinds of trouble traveling around the galaxy trying to do little deals. And, boom! We’ve set ourselves up for a spin-off show. The Harry Mudd spin-off show. That would be my ideal.”
To me, it sounds like Wilson is trying to capture a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe in the Star Trek universe. I'm kind of on the fence about the idea personally, although it would be cool to see how Harry Mudd always gets himself into the predicaments he's in as opposed to hearing about it in the aftermath. I could see that making for an entertaining series!
On the same token, you don't see Star Trek shows operating outside of the realm of Star Fleet...so I don't see this one really happening. What about you?

Last year, we were teased with one of the first trailers for MG Survive, just before Konami informed us at E3 that the game was to be delayed until 2018. This is the first game to be produced since Hideo Kojima left Konami, and he made sure to poke fun at MG Survive at a Tokyo Game Show last year. That hasn't stopped Konami thankfully, and it looks like we are all set for release come February 2018.
In case you missed it, you can watch 15 minutes of gameplay here.
Are you looking forward to this upcoming release? Do you have any reservations about it? Let us know.
