The Level of Success For JUSTICE LEAGUE Will Decide The Fate of FLASHPOINT

Even though Warner Bros. has officially announced that they will be developing a Flashpoint  movie, it's still not a done deal. The studio still isn't 100% confident with the direction that they are taking their DC films. The future of their DC movie slate all depends on the level of success that they see for Justice League. It sounds like that is going to be a make it or break it movie, specifically for Flashpoint

The news comes from Variety reporter Justin Kroll, who appeared on Meet the Movie Press, where he revealed that Warner Bros. was waiting to see how well Justice League performs both financially and critically before moving forward with multiple films a year. It's explained that this is one of the reasons why the development of Flashpoint and a few other DC films have hit a delay.

Three films that are currently 100% moving forward are Aquaman, which director James Wan just finished shooting; Patty Jenkin's Wonder Woman 2; and Shazam!, which just cast Zachary Levi in the title role.

The studio is obviously being very cautious right now about how they move forward, which makes sense. I think Justice League is going to do very well at the box office. It's already tracking at $110-$120 million opening, but we still don't know how it will go over with fans and critics. I hope it turns out being a great movie! I was actually excited for Flashpoint! Some of the recent directors rumored to be up for the directing gig include Phil Lord and Chris Miller and Robert Zemeckis, but the studio has yet to lock anyone down.

Joseph Kosinski Reveals How Much Of TOP GUN 2 Will Be Influenced By The Original

Just how much of Top Gun 2 will be a repeat of Top Gun? That's a question many fans are wondering as the quest to rehash nostalgia often takes precedence in these reboot movies. Director Joseph Kosinski gave the scoop to Cinemablend, and said the following:

You have to make your own movie. If you just tried to copy the original, then what are you bringing to it? So certainly it's a continuation of the story, so there will be characters that will continue. Nostalgia, I think, is a tricky thing. It can be a crutch; it shouldn't be a crutch that you lean on. But the first movie was a right of passage for Maverick, and this movie will be as well.

From that answer, I would say it doesn't look like we're in for a Force Awakens telling of the Top Gun universe. That's alright with me because I have absolutely no expectations for this film, so the news that it won't be a retelling of the first film is great for me. Is anyone disappointed by this news?

Gwyneth Paltrow’s SE7EN Halloween Costume is Too Perfect

Over the weekend, Gwyneth Paltrow posted a photo of herself and her boyfriend Brad Falchuk in their Halloween costumes and it's perfection. This could very well be one of the best celebrity Halloween costumes ever!

The costumes are themed after David Fincher's Se7en, which Paltrow co-starred in. She played Tracy Mills in the film, the wife of Detective David Mills (Brad Pitt).

During the climatic finale, we learn that Tracy was murdered by John Doe (Kevin Spacey) and her head was put in a box and dropped off in the middle of a field, where her husband David was waiting. This is the point where he utters the classic line... "What's in the box?!" I included that scene for you to watch below.

Well, as you can see, Paltrow's costume pays tribute to this iconic scene and she put her head in the box for Halloween. Her boyfriend is dressed up as John Doe. The fact that Paltrow did this as her Halloween costume is so awesome!

The Nintendo Switch Has Already Sold Half Of The Wii-U’s Lifetime Sales

In the six months since its release, the Nintendo Switch has already matched half of the lifetime sales of the Wii-U. Nintendo's latest earning report says the current lifetime sales of the Switch are at 7.63 million units, and the Wii-U's sales after five years were 13.56 million units. The news is not all that surprising given it's been known all year the Switch has been a runaway success, but apparently, things are so good that Nintendo has now raised their predictions for sales at the end of March from 10 million to 14 million.

Additionally, Nintendo reports they sold 27.48 million units of software, which means the average owner has purchased around 3-4 games for the console. Presumably, one of those titles is either Zelda Breath Of The Wild (4.7 million), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4.42 million), or Splatoon 2 (3.5 million). As for ARMS, Nintendo reports the game has sold 1.35 million, which is just below the widely panned 1-2 Switch

So what's the big takeaway here for those that don't have a Switch?

  1. If you're waiting for a price're going to be waiting for awhile.
  2. If you're looking for a Switch, you better start getting serious about it because they aren't going to be easier to find as the holidays approach.
  3. Nintendo is having an amazing year.

I'm sure we'll see more crazy Nintendo news out this week as Super Mario Odyssey sales figures start to flood in. Are you impressed with the Switch's success so far? Is there anyone out there that still has zero interest in this console?

The Duffers Bros. Defend and Explain The Controversial Seventh Episode of STRANGER THINGS Season 2

Stranger Things Season 2 was freakin' fantastic! I enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed the first season. I have no complaints about the season, but some fans weren't very happy with episode 7 and a lot of fans came out to criticise it.

If you haven't watched Episode 7 yet, I suggest you don't don't read ahead. Series creators Ross and Matt Duffer explain why they included the episode and they defend it.

The seventh episode focuses on Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) journey as she reunites with her "sister" Kali (Linnea Berthelsen), who was also a child victim of the dark experimentation by the group of scientist and staff as Hawkins Laboratory. The segment introduced us to a few new characters as they take Eleven down a different darker path of revenge.

I actually liked the episode and saw it as a way to set up a new story that opened up the world beyond Hawkins. During an interview with EW, Matt Duffer explains:

"Whether it works for people or not, it allows us to experiment a little bit. It’s important for Ross and I to try stuff and not feel like we’re doing the same thing over and over again. It’s almost like doing a whole little other pilot episode in the middle of your season, which is kind of a crazy thing to do. But it was really fun to write and cast and work on."

He went on to talk about why the episode was necessary, saying:

"Our test of the episode was we tried to pull it out of the show just to make sure that we needed it because I didn’t want it in there as filler — even though some critics are accusing us of doing that. But Eleven’s journey kind of fell apart, like the ending didn’t work, without it. So I was like, whether this works or not, we need this building block in here or the whole show is going to collapse. It’s not going to end well. The Mind Flayer is going to take over Hawkins."

Ross added:

"That Eleven story line overall is sort of the biggest risk we took. We’re going to continue to do risks moving forward to keep us on our toes. I didn’t want her to just magically save the day. Just like Luke Skywalker, she needed to go off on her own and learn something about herself."

Maybe this explanation will smooth things over with fans that didn't get what they were trying to do with Episode seven. I never saw a reason for complaining in the first place, I thought it fit right in with the story that they were telling and it was a part of Eleven's journey that she needed to take. It's good to know that the Duffer bros. aren't afraid to take risks like this and expand on the world that they are creating.

As the story continues maybe we'll get to be introduced to more of Eleven's sisters. Maybe all of the survivors of the experiments will eventually have to come together to defeat the evil that is trying to invade their world. What do you all think?

Adam Driver May Have Dropped a SPOILER Regarding Rey’s Origin in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Ever since Daisy Ridley's Rey was introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fan have been wondering where she came from and who here parents are. There's so much we don't know about her origin, but it looks like Kylo Ren star, Adam Driver, may have dropped a pretty big spoiler regarding the character's origin in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He doesn't come out and drop any names of who Rey's parents are, but he does drop a huge hint during an interview with GQ. If you don't want to know any more than that, then don't read ahead:

Here's what Driver had to say:

"I remember the initial conversations about having things ‘skinned’, peeling away layers to evolve into other people, and the person Kylo’s pretending to be on the outside is not who he is. He’s a vulnerable kid who doesn’t know where to put his energy, but when he puts his mask on, suddenly, he’s playing a role. JJ had that idea initially and I think Rian took it to the next level.

"You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who’s hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices."

Driver refers to Rey as a princess in hiding. If she is, in fact, a princess, could she actually be the daughter of General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and sister to Ben Solo? The thing is, there was absolutely no indication from Solo or Organa in The Force Awakens that Rey was their daughter, so I doubt that's the case.

If Organa and Solo aren't her parents, who could her royal parents be? Speculate in the comment section below!

THOR: RAGNAROK Director Wishes Deadpool Could Have Appeared In The Film

Thor: Ragnarok will no doubt go down as one of Marvel's funniest and most enjoyable films in the entire MCU, but it will forever be missing the funniest Marvel character. Ragnarok already features an impressive lineup of Marvel heroes like The Hulk, Thor, Valkyrie, and villains like Hela, so how could you possibly up the ante? Maybe by adding a certain merc with a mouth? Ragnarok director Taika Waititi was recently asked by a fan on Twitter who he would bring in if he could choose any Marvel character, Waititi responded:

"Deadpoop. But, y'know... laws n shit."

Waititi is, of course referring to the fact that Deadpool's rights are currently held by 20th Century FOX, and the studio is probably not planning on letting go of their raunchy and foul-mouthed hero.

It kind of goes without saying that a Waititi version of Deadpool would be incredible and Ryan Reynolds would probably thrive with how much improvisation the director uses.

Waititi told MTV News that about 80% of Thor: Ragnarok was improvised, which yielded some of the movies best stuff. So much so that actor Mark Ruffalo wondered how they hadn't been fired yet.

"Mark Ruffalo would be finished shooting for the day," Waititi said. "And he'd come up to me and he'd be like, 'Why have we not been fired yet? We are doing the most insane stuff in this film, so where's the phone call?'"

Ryan Reynolds is known for improvising and both films also have similar visions in how seriously they take themselves. I.E., not very seriously at all.

"If we were taking things a little too seriously. I would say, ‘Never forget that we're making a cosmic adventure with a space Viking.' That sort of captures it all. We've got the Incredible Hulk, and a giant woman with antlers. We've got aliens and spaceships. It's almost like a bunch of kids were asked what they wanted to put into a movie, and then we just did that."

Even though we won't be seeing Deadpool, you can still catch Thor: Ragnarok when it hits theaters on November 3.

The Creator of QUANTUM LEAP Has Written a Script For a Movie!

It looks like Dr. Sam Beckett might be back for another adventure! This time on the big screen! Quantum Leap creator, Donald Bellisario, announced at L.A. Comic-Con that he has completed writing a script for a Quantum Leap movie!

During a panel hosted by EW, Belisario and Scott Bakula reunited to talk about the classic show and when asked about the potential of a reboot, the creator casually said:

“I just finished writing a Quantum Leap feature. I don’t know what’s going to happen with it, but I did write it.”

When pressed for a plot tease, all Bellisario would say is:

“I write things exactly the same way. I just start writing and I let them take me wherever it’s going to take me. I’m entertained the same way the audience is. So I just put Scott and Dean [Stockwell] in my head, kind of rebooted them, and went from there.”

I loved watching this show when I was growing up. I haven't watched it since the series came to an end in 1993. It would be so cool to see a Quantum Leap movie with Bakula back in the role of Dr. Sam Beckett. Only time will tell if something with this script will ever happen.

The series ended on a controversial note because Beckett didn't end up jumping back into the present day. Why is that? Well, Bakula explains they wanted to keep it open for more stories to tell.

“It was a great episode. Last episodes are always controversial. I always say to writers, ‘If you want a challenge more than writing just an hour of television, write an hour of television that is the last hour of television that that show will ever have on; write it so that it could also come back next fall; write it so that it could possibly become a movie of the week; [and] write it so that it could still potentially be a feature film someday. And make everybody happy… If you go back and watch that episode, [Bellisario] checked off all those boxes.”

The creative team was proud of their final episode and it would be so cool to see the story continue in a feature film one day! The script is written, now all it needs is a studio to back it!

Would you like to see a Quantum Leap movie one day?
