Kenneth Branagh Could End Up Building an Agatha Christie Cinematic Universe

It looks like there's a possibility that the latest big-screen adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express could be the start of an Agatha Christie cinematic universe. I actually thoroughly enjoyed Murder on the Orient Express and I'm looking forward to the sequel based on the novel Death on the Nile.

Director Kenneth Branagh is now saying that these film could very well open the door to the development of a cinematic universe based in the world that Christie has created in her novels. While talking with Associated Press, he talks about the possibility of it saying:

"I think there are possibilities, aren’t there? With 66 books and short stories and plays, she — and she often brings people together in her own books actually, so innately — she enjoyed that. You feel as though there is a world — just like with Dickens, there’s a complete world that she’s created — certain kinds of characters who live in her world — that I think has real possibilities."

As of right now, there are no plans for this cinematic universe, but it's one of those things that wouldn't surprise me if it happened. Branagh even went on to say that he thinks the studio has been thinking about it. The first film was produced by 20th Century Fox, and now that Disney owns the studio it will be interesting to see how they proceed. This seems like a perfect franchise for Disney to continue to produce. Of course, if the franchise doesn't make any money they won't have any issues pulling the plug on it

Over the course of her writing career, Christie published 73 novels, 28 short story books, and 16 plays. The character Hercule Poirot, who Branagh plays in the films, showed up in 33 of the novels, over 50 short stories, and also appeared in one play. Some of the other characters she played with include the elderly amateur detective Miss Marple and the crime-solving team of Tommy and Tuppence.

There are so many great stories and characters to play with. Even if they never crossover with each other, it would still be a fun world to continue to explore in multiple films.

Would you like to see Branagh build an Agatha Christie universe?

This Sc-Fi Short Film IN THE GAP Centers on a Woman Who is Forced to Face Her Tattered Past

I've got an interesting Swedish sci-fi short film for you to check out today called sIn The Gap. The story centers on a woman who is trapped inside a server room by a digital program. There she is forced to face the digital ghosts of her tattered past of mistakes until her time is up. There comes a point where the computer insists she'll feel better once she "uploads" herself to the server core.

The short was written and directed by Albin Glasell who did a great job executing the concept. The movie ends with a twist that you may find intriguing and at the same time confusing. I won't go into any other details but I think that this is a short film some of you will enjoy. It kind of has a Black Mirror vibe to it. Check it out and tell us what you think.

Nicolas Cage Goes Berserk and Tries To Kill His Kids in Trailer For the Horror Comedy MOM AND DAD

Nicolas Cage goes completely berserk in this upcoming new film called Mom and Dad. This high-energy trailer makes the film looks like it will be one of Cage's craziest roles. The film is a dark horror comedy in which Cage and Selma Blair play a pair of suburban parents who suddenly are overcome with the raging urge to kill their kids. It's not just them, though. All of the parents in the community comes down with an unstoppable urge who can't help but want to murder their children! They are like rabid zombies!

The movie looks like it's going to be an insane over-the-top movie as we watch kids and adults violently battle each other! Here's the synopsis:

A teenage girl and her little brother must survive a wild 24 hours during which a mass hysteria of unknown origins causes parents to turn violently on their own kids.

The movie looks like it will provide audiences with some sadistic fun and I'm totally down to watch Cage go completely bonkers again. It's always fun watching Cage go completely nuts!

Mom and Dad also stars Anne WintersZackary ArthurOlivia CroccicchiaBrionne Davis and Samantha Lemole and it's set to be released on January 19, 2018.

Hasbro is Developing a New MICRONAUTS Animated Series

Hasbro is looking to introduce a whole new generation to Micronauts with a new animated series that they are launching in 2019. Micronauts is based on a Japanese toy line and was created by Mega in 1976. They manufactured the toy line through 1980.

Hasbro is also developing a live-action film based on Micronauts with Paramount Pictures. That movie is set to be released on October 16th, 2020, so this animated series will serve as a way to prime the pump and help build an audience for the film.

There is some concept art that was released for the series that you can see above and here is the information for the series that can be found on Hasbro Studios Sales Guide:

"When fate brings an unlikely team of alien space explorers to earth in pursuit of the evil Baron Karza, they make a shocking discovery - on our world they are the size of action figures!" explains a Hasbro marketing kit. "The Micronauts are small heroes in a big world but the stakes are higher than ever as their miniaturized size presents dangerous obstacles at every turn. Fortunately, they forge an alliance with teenager Cameron Ruck, who will join them in their pursuit of justice. Although the Micronauts are small in stature, their bravery and adventurous spirits remain larger than life."

The series is being targeted to 6-11-year olds and there's a full order of 26 22-minute episodes. Even though the series is being made for young kids, I'm interested in seeing how it turns out. What do you think about Hasbro developing a Micronauts animated series?

Matt Damon Really Enjoyed His Cameo In THOR: RAGNAROK

Before Thor: Ragnarok was released there were rumors that Matt Damon had snuck in a role, and once the MCU film hit theaters it was quite obvious that fans weren’t disappointed by Damon’s comedy timing. The actor told Collider that he thought his part in Ragnarok was hilarious and discussed what brought him to the movie.

During the interview Damon was asked if he had always wanted to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or if his Ragnarok appearance was a spur of the moment thing:

“Chris just called me up, and Taika called me up, and I’m friends with those guys. They pitched me the idea and I just thought it was hysterical, the idea of basically an intergalactic community theater actor kind of living out Tom Hiddleston’s character’s fantasy. I just thought it was just a great, funny bit, and very easy to do. Those guys were a lot of fun, and Taika runs a really fun set. It was a light lift for me.”

The scene in question was near the beginning of the film where he played an Asgardian actor portraying Loki along with Sam Neill as Odin, Luke Hemsworth as Thor. But now that Damon has had the small part in Ragnarok it pretty much rules him out of playing any of the big heroes or villains in the future of the MCU.

Damon added that Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth were on set during their day of shooting, and seemed to enjoy the scene just as much as the audiences did:

“Tom was right there, and Chris was there, and we were all having a good laugh.”

Director Taika Waititi promised a fun third installment to the Thor saga. Damon wasn't the only actor to bring the laughs, there were other brilliant comedy performances from stars like Jeff Goldblum and Hemsworth. One might even argue that Ragnarok has set a precedent for how Marvel movies should be made moving forward.

What did you guys think of Damon's cameo, was it a nice addition or was it too distracting?

Watch Some Behind-The-Scenes Footage From INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY

I enjoy watching behind-the-scenes footage from films because it gives us a look at what it is like to be on the set of a film production. Today we have some very cool behind-the-scenes footage for the upcoming horror film Insidious: The Last Key.

This next film in the franchise offers new details on the mythology and centers around the parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) as she faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet. The haunted house that she will be dealing with in this story, is her own family home, the home that she grew up in. It doesn't look like she had the most pleasant childhood.

The film was written by Insidious co-creator Leigh Whannell (Saw). He wrote every film in the trilogy and directed Insidious: Chapter 3. The movie was produced by Insidious regulars Jason BlumOren Peli, and co-creator James Wan. This fourth film was directed by Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan). I'm not really familiar with his work, but it looks like he's done a great job with this movie!

The rest of the cast includes Angus Sampson, Whannell, Josh Stewart, Caitlin Gerard, Kirk Acevedo, Javier Botet, Bruce Davison, Spencer Locke, Tessa Ferrer, Ava Kolker and Marcus Henderson.

Insidious: The Last Key is set to be released on January 5th, 2018. To watch the trailer for the film, click here.

David Harbour Opens Up on What He Wants to See in STRANGER THINGS Season 3

Stranger Things fans have got a long ways to go before we start seeing anything from Season 3. One day we'll start learning about what we can expect and we'll eventually see the series return to Netflix. That won't happen until 2019! In the meantime, all we can do is speculate what might happen and read about what the cast would like to see happen.

During a recent interview with Variety, David Harbour reveals what he hopes to see in Season 3. One of the main things is seeing the relationship between Sheriff Hopper and Joyce (Winona Ryder) explored more.

"I’ve been pretty vocal about how I love the dynamic between Joyce and Hopper, which I don’t feel like we got a lot of time to explore in Season 2. I just love that dynamic of these two lost people. I equate it to Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway in Chinatown or Indiana Jones and Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark.'"

It's not hard to see that these two characters will eventually get together. They clearly have strong feelings for each other. Harbour goes on to say:

"These great, throwback, they hate each other but love each other kind of tropes. It’s done so sophisticatedly by the Duffers, and Winona is really game for it, too. We love playing scenes with each other. I would love more stuff with her."

Harbour goes on to discuss wanting to work with Gaten Matarazzo and how he also wants to dive into Hopper's past:

"I’d love to work with Gaten. I want to get into the backstory of Hopper more. When Eleven goes into the basement, she sees a bunch of boxes, one of which says 'Hawkins Lab.' 'Dad.' 'Vietnam.' 'New York.' There’s a lot of story we can get into around Hopper’s time as a cop in New York, Hopper’s time in Vietnam. I would love to see more of that, but we have a ton of great characters, so I don’t know how much they’ll be able to do."

That's what I'm interested in! I would love to start getting into the backstory of Hopper. He's such a great character and getting some more history in his past is something that the series needs to get into.

What story elements are you hoping to see explored in Stranger Things Season 3?
