Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) stars in an intriguing new film called Jonathan and it has quite a unique promise. The story centers on two brothers whose minds are trapped in the same body and each one of them lives their own separate lives. Things get really awkward when they both end up falling for the same woman. Today we’ve got a trailer for the film to share with you and it looks really good! Here’s the synopsis:
The film tells the story of Jonathan, a successful architect who lives a normal life dictated by a strict routine. Jonathan’s twin brother John, on the other hand, sleeps all day and spends the night secretly socializing. When Jonathan discovers that John has a secret girlfriend, Elena, he forces John to end things and then starts a new relationship Elena out of curiosity and jealousy. John ultimately catches wind of the affair, which puts his relationship with his brother at serious risk and forces Jonathan to seek the help of Dr. Mina Nariman, the brothers’ controlling doctor.
The movie also star Suki Waterhouse (Insurgent, Assassination Nation) and Patricia Clarkson (Six Feet Under, Sharp Objects).
Jonathan was directed by Bill Oliver (Guilt), who wrote the script with Peter Nickowitz. The film will be released on November 16th.
I never thought I’d see Robert Englund back in the role of Freddy Krueger after all these years, but he’s reprising the role one more time in an upcoming episode of The Goldbergs. I imagine that might be the last time we see Englund in the role of Freddy. But, he’s still hoping to see A Nightmare on Elm Street prequel one day.
Tobe Hooper did bring that story to life in the the pilot episode of Freddy’s Nightmares, and the film franchise has touched on the backstory several times, but seeing an entair movie dedicated to Freddy could actually work. Here’s what Englund had to say at the recent Monster Mania convention in Hunt Valley, Maryland:
“I’ve always thought that [not having a prequel] is a misruling in the mythology of A Nightmare on Elm Street. It got close to being rectified with Tobe Hooper’s pilot for the TV series, and there was a script that was supposedly to be directed by John McNaughton, who did Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. There was a prequel script… I think it was called Krueger: The First Kills. And it was… the last children being killed… the two detectives that found Freddy and busted him… then the body of the film were the ambulance-chasing, sleazy lawyers that get Freddy off.”
He went on to say:
“The lawyers are actually the best parts [of that script]. There’s two of them. Freddy in court… Freddy at the table… Freddy on the witness stand… Freddy in jail. But it’s about the lawyers getting him off. They get him off and Freddy gloats too much on the courtroom stairs. The end of the movie is Freddy being burned alive. I’ve had a fascination with these projects since I did the pilot with Tobe Hooper.”
If you’ve never seen that pilot episode of Freddy’s Nightmares, I included it below. Of course, if a prequel film ever did get made, Englund would love to at least have a cameo:
“I would love to cameo in anything with integrity, connected with the franchise.”
A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite horror movie franchises and I’ve always wanted to see a prequel film made. Hopefully, one day it’ll happen.
It’s great to Fangoria back in action and producing horror movies! I really enjoyed their last film Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich. It really captured the greatness of those old-school B-horror films.
Their next movie is a horror comedy called Satanic Panic, which is said to include “a healthy dash of imaginative gore.” Rebecca Romijn (Star Trek: Discovery, X-Men) is set to star in the Chelsea Stardust-directed film.
The plot follows a pizza delivery girl (Hayley Griffith) at the end of her financial rope who has to fight for her life — and her tips — when her last order of the night turns out to be high society Satanists (led by Romijn) in need of a virgin sacrifice.
Sounds like it will be a silly fun horror film! Romijn and Griffith will be joined by Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day), Arden Myrin (Insatiable), Jerry O’Connell (Carter), AJ Bowen (The Sacrament), Jordan Ladd (Cabin Fever), Jeff Daniel Phillips (The Lords Of Salem), Hannah Stocking (Boo 2! A Madea Halloween), Michael Polish (Some Kind Of Hate), Whitney Moore (House Of Demons) and Skeeta Jenkins (Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich).
Fangoria is set to start production this week in Dallas, Texas and I’ll be looking forward to watching it.
A leaked synopsis for Dragon Ball Super: Broly has surfaced online via a Colombian website (via Comicbook), and it lays out the details of the upcoming canon appearance of Broly. Take a look at the synopsis, which has been run through Google Translate, below:
Solid premise, although I’m not sure how Goku and Vegeta are going to be able to beat both Frieza and Broly. I mean, I’m sure they will, but at what point does this series ever try to protect the power levels of recurring characters and not make this a story about how they get their ass kicked until Goku gets stronger?
Dragon Ball Super: Broly will be in American theaters January 16th.
Morgues already make a great setting for any horror film, but throw a possessed dead body into the mix and then you’ve got yourself a creepy-ass story to tell! It’s really a simple premise, but it sure looks like it’ll make for an entertaining horror film that will offer some crazy thrills and chills, especially if you scare easy.
The movie stars Pretty Little Liars‘ Shay Mitchell and the film is set in the aftermath of an exorcism that has gone horribly wrong. The body may be dead, but there’s an evil demon that still resides in it who is going to find joy in scaring the living shit out of a young women who is working the graveyard shift at the morgue… alone. Here’s the synopsis:
A shocking exorcism spirals out of control, claiming the life of a young woman. Months later, Megan Reed (Shay Mitchell) is working the graveyard shift in the morgue when she takes delivery of a disfigured cadaver. Locked alone inside the basement corridors, Megan begins to experience horrifying visions and starts to suspect that the body may be possessed by a ruthless demonic force.
The perfect place to watch this movie would be in a morgue for the optimal creep out movie watching experience.
The Possession of Hannah Grace was directed by Diederik Van Rooijen from a script written by Brian Sieve. The supporting cast also includes Kirby Johnson, Stana Katic, Grey Damon, and Nick Thune.
The Possession of Hannah Grace opens in theaters on November 30, 2018. I also include a poster below the trailer.
DC Universe has an animated series about Harley Quinn on the way, and they’ve snagged up quite a bit of talent for the upcoming adventure. Kaley Cuoco has already been announced as the voice of Harley, and now iZombie actor Rahul Kohli has announced he’ll be voicing Jonathan Crane a.k.a. Scarecrow:
Kohli is just the latest big name in a list of names attached to this project, which includes Wanda Sykes, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Jim Rash, Tony Hale and others. Will it be enough to keep people from complaining Tara Strong isn’t attached? We’ll have to see when the series premieres in 2019.

Doctor Who premiered its new title sequence recently, and like many things this season, it’s a good deal different from past seasons. The theme is relatively unchanged, but the intro features no TARDIS and a bunch of space and time warping before the new logo flashes across the screen:
Personally, I like it. The song sounds the same minus the small audio cue at the beginning, and the visual effects have certainly taken a step up this season. What do you think of the new visual design of the series, and how do you feel about Jodie Whittaker’s first two episodes as the Doctor?
Having an epic game series where you fight monstrously huge enemies with large weapons, incredible strength, and agile move sets is one thing, but to be able to play these kinds of games with friends is just that much better! The God Eater series has been known to allow this with their previous four player co-op missions so far, but this time they are taking it another step further.
Bandai Namco has announced that God Eater 3 will have an entirely new mission, available to players the day of its release in Early 2019, that will allow up to eight players to cooperate and work together. This mission will be known as an Assault Mission. If you haven’t seen God Eater 3 in action yet, check this out:
I always find games that let you play cooperatively with your friends to be more enjoyable as it gives you the option of bringing help or, in some cases, helping your friend with a tough enemy. Knowing that this mode is set to have up to eight players at once, the enemy is undoubtedly going to be strong enough to require a minimum of five players at once!
The battle will continue as long as the beasts roam the land and it’s up to you to end this. Do you have the companions to take on an Assault Mission? How do you feel this quest will impact your adventure in the next God Eater title?
The original Halloween was a great experience for actor Nick Castle, although he recently admitted not everything was a great time. The actor spoke to Vanity Fair about the hardest scene he shot for the original time and had no issues pulling that one out of the memory bank:
The most difficult scene is easy for me to remember. It was a scene shot in the middle of the night, where Michael jumps on top of a car as he’s escaping the mental hospital. It wasn’t freezing, but it was in the mid-40s. I was in a hospital gown and underpants. I don’t think John let me know what he had in store for me.
He turns to the crew and says something like, 'O.K., start the water cannons.' The hospital’s sprinkler system was more like a fire hose. The water arced into the air, and when it came down on me, it felt like icicles hitting me on the back. He yells 'action.' It was the most painful thing I’d ever experienced outside of a broken arm. That was the one scene that I really remember thinking, 'Maybe I should have got more than $25.'
Castle probably should’ve, especially considering his performance in the original film is one of the things that made the franchise what it is today. The new Halloween is in theaters October 19th.
