Microsoft has announced the next chapter of the legendary Halo game franchise. It's called Halo Infinite and they've released the first trailer during the Xbox e# 2018 press conference. It offers an exciting first look at what we can expect from the game and Master Chief will return! The game will continue his saga after the events of Halo 5.
When talking about the game and the team's vision for it, 343 Industries Studio Head Chris Lee said:
"When we started this project, the team’s vision for the game was ambitious. So much so that we knew we had to build new tech to fully realize our goals for Halo Infinite. The E3 demo showcases some of the exciting potential of this technology – everything you see is running in-engine. We still have a long way to go until we ship the game, so things will certainly evolve between now and the release of Halo Infinite, though the engine demo is a clear indication of the direction we are heading with our next game and a great snapshot of where our tech is right now.
"I know waiting can be hard for folks who are excited for more info about the game. We are taking the time we need to make the right game and are making changes to how we approach things this time around. The goal of the entire 343 Industries team is to make a great Halo game for our fans that also invites new players into our franchise. We will have some new and unexpected directions to take folks in and I believe the way we achieve that is to build alongside our community, iterating and improving as we go."
The game was created with 343 Industries' new Slipspace Engine, and it provides "a glimpse into the future of the Halo franchise, leading it into new and unexpected directions." Check out the trailer below and let us know if you're excited to play the game!
Microsoft has announced the fifth game in the Gears of War Franchise for Xbox One called Gears 5 and they've released the first trailer! I've enjoyed this franchise over the years and this next chapter in the franchise looks like it could be pretty fun.
The game seems to have a much more cinematic tone to it than previous Gear of War games and the trailer features Kait Diaz, Marcus Fenix, his son and few other characters. They embark on a dangerous journey to find out what is behind the premonitions that Kait has been having. The description also teases that player will "journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world ever created."
Play solo or with a friend in local split-screen co-op, or online co-op and experience every mode in 4K Ultra HD resolution with stunning HDR at a smooth 60 frames per second.
It was also announced that Microsoft-owned studio, The Coalition, is also working on two Gears of War spin-offs, Gears Pop, a mobile game, and Gears Tactics, a strategy game.
The final adult member of The Losers Club for IT: Chapter 2 has been cast. Shadowhunters and former Old Spice actor Isaiah Mustafa is set to take on the role of Mike Hanlon, the young version of which was played by Chosen Jacobs in the first film. It was the young actor who made the announcement on his Instagram account.
Mustafa joins Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Andy Bean, James Ransone, and Jay Ryan, who are set to play Beverly, Bill, Richie, Stan, Eddie and Ben, respectively. Bill Skarsgard is also set to return as Pennywise the Clown.
IT: Chapter 2 will be set 27 years after the first film. As they've grown up, they've forgotten about what had happened. When bad things start to happen in Derry again and kids begin to go missing, Mike Hanlon, who stayed behind in Derry to keep watch over the town, calls up his old friends and reminds them of the promise they made to come back and stop It if it ever came back.
Mike plays a very big and important part in the second part of the story. When talking about how the character will be portrayed in Chapter 2, director Andy Muschietti explained:
"My idea of Mike in the second movie is quite darker from the book. I want to make his character the one pivotal character who brings them all together, but staying in Derry took a toll with him. I want him to be a junkie actually. A librarian junkie. When the second movie starts, he’s a wreck."
Muschietti goes on to say:
"He’s not just the collector of knowledge of what Pennywise has been doing in Derry. He will bear the role of trying to figure out how to defeat him. The only way he can do that is to take drugs and alter his mind."
So that's going to be interesting! The director went on to explain that Mike's mind-altering exploration is inspired by a part of King’s book that wasn't in the movie. It included the kids trying a Native American ritual so that they can get a glimpse of the supernatural plane, which helps bring them into contact with entities that help them stop Pennywise the Clown.
“It resonates with what the kids do when they go to the smokehouse in the Barrens. By inhaling these fumes from the fire they have visions of It, and the origin of It, and the falling fire in the sky that crashed into Derry millions of years ago. We’ve brought that to Mike, by the end of those 30 years Mike has figured out the Ritual of Chüd.”
I loved the first film and I can't wait to see what Muschietti does with this sequel! It will be released on September 6th, 2019.
Maleficent 2 is in production at the moment and a new member of the cast has been announced. Judith Shekoni from Breaking Dawn Part 2 has been cast as Shrike who Variety describes as “a character who befriends the titular anti-hero, Maleficent[.]” Based on the name, I’m guessing she’ll be a mythical creature and not a human, but I could be wrong.
Shekoni will be joining the big names of Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay, and Harris Dickinson. In case you missed it, here’s the synopsis that we have:
No official release date has been set for the film.
So, maybe this is news to me, but did you guys know that you can request content for Netflix? I know I’m not the only one who didn’t know until recently as it seems to have to come to light starting with this tweet in which a customer in the Philippines tweeted out to Netflix, asking them to add a movie to their service and Netflix saying, “You know the drill.”
If there is a TV show or movie that you’d like to see on Netflix, it turns out that you can make requests on this page. Unfortunately, just because a title is requested, it does not mean that the title will be added. Netflix does have licensing deals that help dictate what can and cannot be added which is one of the reasons why titles are taken off the service after some time. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a million things to request.
Back Street Girls is a manga comedy series where three Yakuza have to become girl pop idols. I will admit I’ve never read the series, but it sounds ridiculous to me. I recently shared that it would be adapted into an anime and we now have some promos of what we can expect from the anime. Unfortunately, it’s all in Japanese with no subtitles, so I cannot tell you what is being said, but I imagine that it’s explaining the premise of the show. The first one is narrated by men and the second is narrated by women, but both have the same clips. The show will premiere on July 3 in Japan. Will you be watching this? Do you hope it makes its way to the west?
If this is the beginning of a trend to dress up drunk and passed out people as Pixar characters, I'm all for it. At least in this case where this guys friends decided to make their friend look like Woody from Toy Story by putting "ANDY" on his foot and a cowboy hat on his head. That alone was ok enough, but then they through on the Randy Newman and put strings on his hands to make him dance, and that really makes this video worth a watch! Check it out below:
Johnny Knoxville has made a career out of injuring himself, and while I'm sure he has a few regrets, he seems pretty happy with the life he's lived so far. That's super surprising to hear when you look at the amount of injuries this guy has sustained in 3 seasons of Jackass, a few movies, and the various other stunt films he's done. Listen to Knoxville break down some of the worst injuries of his career in the video below, and let us know which one you think was the worst:
How It's Made is one of my favorite shows on television, so obviously I was jazzed when they uploaded a new video to YouTube for the first time in a hot minute. This time around, they uploaded a video showing how Pringles get made, which is a rare treat for the show. Usually when I see something like this get made on the show, it's like an offbrand of what you'd actually want to see. This one is the real deal, and maybe I'm geeking out too hard about this, but whatever let me have this moment! Check out the video below, and let us know your opinion on How It's Made:
A few years ago we featured a great horror short film called Line Signal. The director of that short, John Panton, is back with a haunting short film called Surveyor, which he wrote and directed. The story centers on a surveyor who is hired to inspect an abandoned mansion for a client who is looking to renovate it. While there, he encounters more than he expected in the dilapidated mansion.
I love the atmospheric tone of the short as it adds a wonderfully creepy vibe. The usage of sound, setting, and visuals is the key to what makes this short so enjoyable. It's a simple story but effective. I hope you enjoy this!
