This New VOLTRON LEGO Set is Awesome!

the-new-voltron-lego-set-is-awesome-social.jpg

If you were a kid in the 1980’s, late 1990’s, or anyone with a Netflix subscription now, you know about Voltron. The mecha formed from 5 giant robotic lions to save the universe. Now, you can make your own Voltron from LEGOs and it looks awesome! The best part? You build the lions and then they can be combined like in the show to form Voltron. A sword and shield are included, so Voltron can battle the forces of evil from the box. The piece count is 2,321 and when combined, Voltron stands at a mighty 15 inches. The catch? It’s fairly expensive and it’s only on preorder right now. You can preorder it over at the LEGO store right now though for $179.99. So, are you excited to build this? Will you keep it on your shelf as Voltron or the 5 lions?

The Remake of Stephen King’s FIRESTARTER Finds a Director

Universal Pictures is moving forward with their remake of Stephen King's classic story Firestarter as they just hired a director. This is one of the few Stephen King books that I never read, but I did see the 1984 Drew Barrymore film, which wasn't the best adaptation of a King novel, but it was still good. It's not hard to believe that a remake could end up being a better adaptation, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Variety is reporting that Fatih Akin will direct the film that is being produced by Akiva Goldsman and Blumhouse Productions. I'm not really that familiar with the film work of Akin but some of his movies include In The Fade, The Cut, and a bunch of other films. Scott Teems (Rectify) will adapt the script.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the story, it follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.

After Stephen King's IT blew up at the box office, every freakin' studio who owned the rights to a King novel seemed to fast track it into pre-production.

Even though I'm not familiar with the director, I still hope this Firestarter film turns out to be good! Otherwise, what's the point of remaking it? Did you like the original film and are you excited for this new adaptation?

STREET FIGHTER 30th Anniversary Collection Gets An Update To Fix K.O. Issues

GT_StreetFighter_30th_00.jpg

Capcom recently announced that an update will be making its way to Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection today, which aims to address some bugs and issues in the online mode.

Moreover, more matchmaking filters will head soon to the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game with the Xbox having its own through Microsoft’s matchmaking process. The update will continue to improve lobby issues that will hopefully address the buggy process of setting up an online team.

You can check out the detailed changes coming to each version of the game below:

PlayStation 4:

  • A matchmaking filter has been added. Users will now be able to select the minimum connection strength for opponents to match up with online
  • Lobby issues have been improved
  • Akuma is no longer playable in Ranked Mode for Super Street Fighter II Turbo
  • Street Fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Giant Attack now output sound in stereo
  • Various localization improvements

Xbox One:

  • Akuma is no longer playable in Ranked Mode for Super Street Fighter II Turbo
  • Street Fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Giant Attack now output sound in stereo
  • Various localization improvements
  • Note: The Xbox One version of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection currently uses Microsoft’s system for optimizing matchmaking for users with strong signals. Therefore, a matchmaking filter was not implemented.

Steam:

  • A matchmaking filter has been added. Users will now be able to select the minimum connection strength for opponents to match up with online
  • A fix for direct input controllers where some users were unable to use diagonal movements
  • Akuma is no longer playable in Ranked Mode for Super Street Fighter II Turbo
  • Street Fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Giant Attack now output sound in stereo
  • Various localization improvements

Lastly, only the Nintendo Switch edition of the game is left out in the patch. Capcom explained that they are still wrapping up the patch for the Switch, which will also improve matchmaking for players.

Rian Johnson Defends THE LAST JEDI Yet Again with Help From The Original Trilogy

I don’t know if it’s just because The Last Jedi is on Netflix now or what, but people are back to attacking the movie. I thought that this had ended and we had all agreed that some liked the movie and others didn’t, but apparently I was wrong. One user on Twitter posted part of what appears to be a newspaper or magazine article where George Lucas says he doesn’t want to kill or have anything bad happen to anyone in the Star Wars franchise, but especially Luke, and tagged Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. Johnson has used Star Wars canon to defend some of his choices for the film in the past and he does it again here.

Now can we all just agree to disagree? I loved The Last Jedi. I know some people who didn’t. It’s not the end of the world, and it’s certainly not the end of Star Wars. For anyone who still thinks Lucas should’ve been involved, remember that in his plans we were going to explore midichlorians in the new trilogy. You know, one of the most hated things about the prequels besides Jar Jar Binks. Also, he liked The Last Jedi and said it was "beautifully made."

But, everyone has their own opinions, which is great! That's part of what makes fandom so fun. Let's get back to having fun.

Kevin Feige Confirms DOCTOR STRANGE 2 While Explaining Marvel’s Approach To Mixing Solo Films and Sequels

kevin-feige-confirms-doctor-strange-2-while-explaining-marvels-approach-to-mixing-solo-films-and-sequels-social.jpg

Marvel Studios has big plans for the MCU after Avengers 4. We don't know what the full slate will look like but we know that it will be filled with solo films featuring new characters and sequels. While talking to CinemaBlend, Kevin Feige discussed how the studio will mix up the releases of the new solo films and the sequels in Phase 4. As he is explaining this, he pretty much confirms that there's a Doctor Strange sequel coming. Before we get to that Doctor Strange news though, Feige says:

"It's one of the reasons we've expanded to three films a year, is so that we could do the sequels to films that people have responded to -- because we love to make continuing stories with characters people have responded to -- but also keep doing the stuff that nobody's ever heard of, and people go, 'Why are you doing that?' That's fun. And that's what Phase One was built on, Phase Two was built on, Phase Three was built on, is having that... Whenever we announce the next year, two years, three years, five years, whatever we're going to announce, there will be plenty of those that, maybe people in the know like yourself will know what they are, but the world at large will go, 'What is it? Why are they doing that? That's exciting for sure."

Marvel has done a great job mixing their films up. They have a great system down and it doesn't seem like it's going to fail them any time soon. As long as they keep making great movies, they'll be just fine. Feige then goes on to talk about the next steps for some of the characters who haven't appeared in a solo film in a while, and that's where he confirmed Doctor Strange 2:

"Sometimes it's where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he's a very big part of [Avengers:Infinity War. So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things."

It's been two years since the first Doctor Strange was released and even though it seems like we may have to wait for a few more, it's still good to know that another film is coming. Doctor Strange is one of my favorite Marvel characters and I'd love to see his story explored further in another solo film. We've got to see him face off with Baron Mordo! Hopefully, we don't have to wait too much longer for that. In the meantime, I'll just be enjoying the Marvel films that are going to be released!

First Poster For M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS and The Film Will Have a Comic-Con Panel

Director M. Night Shyamalan has shared the first poster for his highly anticipated film Glass, which is the third film in a trilogy that began with Unbreakable and continued with Split.

The filmmaker also revealed that he will be bringing Glass to San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H on July 20th. He'll be bringing the cast of the film with him and he says fans can expect a surprise. I imagine that surprise will be the premiere of the trailer that will be released.

I already saw some footage of the film at CinemaCon a few months ago and it was pretty damn awesome! The movie is going in a direction that I wasn't expecting. When talking about the film, the director said:

"In Spilt, I created the origin story for an anarchist that could be good or could be bad. The worlds of Unbreakable and Split finally collide in Glass. What if these real-life superheroes and supervillains are somehow locked up together? What could go wrong?"

He went on to say:

“Eighteen years ago I had this idea: What if comic books were based on reality? I tried to tell the story of superheros in the real world with David Dunn. Then two years ago, I got another crazy notion: What if the afflictions and disorders that everyone in society thinks make a person bad were actually gifts? And I created the origin story for an anarchist who could be good or bad.”

The story that the film will tell is fascinating as we see David Dunn (Bruce Willis), Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson), and Kevin Crumb a.k.a The Beast (James McAvoy) in a psychiatric ward where Doctor Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) is treating them. Why? Because they all think they have superpowers.

For more details on the footage I saw, you can read it hereGlass premieres on January 18th, 2019.

INDIANA JONES 5 Has Been Delayed

Just yesterday we learned that Solo co-writer Jonathan Kasdan would be working on the script for Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones 5. Now, Variety is reporting that the movie has been delayed and it won't make the previously set July 10th, 2020 release date.

Filming was supposed to begin in April of 2019 in the UK, but sources close to the production say that "shooting will no longer start next spring and will have to be pushed back by months, if not a year. Potential crew members have already been informed of the delay."

In case you're wondering why the film is being delayed, the report says, "part of the issue is that the key members of the creative team have yet to sign off on a finished script." They go on to say that Kasdan's deal to work on the script still hasn't closed.

Insiders stress that both Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford remain committed to the film project. I guess we might just have to wait until 2021 before we see the next Indiana Jones film. We've waited this long, I guess another year won't hurt.

Rebecca Ferguson To Join Ewan McGregor in THE SHINING Sequel DOCTOR SLEEP

Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) is in negotiations to join Ewan McGregor in Warner Bros. adaptation of the Stephen King novel Doctor Sleep, which is the sequel to the horror classic The Shining.

McGregor is set to play the adult version of Danny Torrance, which is a perfect casting choice. There's no word on who Ferguson is playing, but there's a chance that she could be playing the character Lucy Stone, Danny Torrance's younger half-sister.

Lucy was a product of an affair between Jack and Sandy, while Jack was teaching. After her mother died in a car accident, she was raised by her grandmother. Later in life she married David and gave birth to their only daughter, Abra, who is a more powerful psychic than her uncle Dan.

It would make sense to see Ferguson take on this role, but there may be another character that she will be playing.

The Shining centers on Jack Torrance, his wife Wendy, and their son Danny as they live in the haunted Overlook Hotel during the winter season to take care of it. It's there that the hotel possesses Jack and he slowly becomes possessed by the hotel and nightmarishly torments his wife and son.

Doctor Sleep takes place several years after the events that took place at the Overlook Hotel. It focuses on Jack's son Danny who is now a middle-aged man. He is still traumatized by what happened at the hotel all those years ago, and he throughout his life has had to deal with anger management and alcoholism issues. However, in an effort to get his life back together, he gives up drinking and settles down in a small town in New Hampshire. It is at this point in his life where his psychic abilities start to resurface and he develops a psychic link with a 12-year-old girl named Abra Stone. Turns out this girl's life is being threatened by a tribe of paranormals who suck the energy from people. They are led by a man named Rose the Hat and Danny has to save her from them.

Mike Flanagan, who helmed Netflix’s adaptation of the King novella Gerald’s Game, is directing Doctor Sleep. The studio is also developing a prequel to The Shining called Overlook Hotel

James McAvoy Shares Photos From The Set of IT: CHAPTER 2

Director Andy Muschietti recently started shooting IT: Chapter 2 and thanks to James McAvoy we have some photos to look at from the set featuring the cast of the film having a good time. These were obviously taken before Pennywise the Clown starts terrorizing them. I also included an image that was shared by Jessica Chastain showing her face merged with Sophia Lillis' face to show the age progression of the character Beverly.

The movie is shooting in Toronto and the sequel has a great cast, which also includes Bill Hader as Richie, Jay Ryan (Beauty and the Beast) as Ben, James Ransone (Generation Kill) as Eddie, with Andy Bean (Here and Now) as Stanley Uris, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, and then there's creepy Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Clown.

The original young cast will also return for the sequel for some flashback scenes. They include Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton.

The sequel is set 27 years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise The Clown when they were kids. As they've grown up, they've forgotten about what had happened. When bad things start to happen in Derry again and kids begin to go missing, Mike Hanlon, who stayed behind in Derry to keep watch over the town, calls up his old friends and reminds them of the promise they made to come back and stop it if it ever came back.

The movie is set to be released on September 6th, 2019.
