James Wan Says to Ignore All MORTAL KOMBAT Announcements Because They Are False

Remember when we posted about character and story details for the Mortal Kombat reboot that James Wan is working on? Turns out it’s complete crap. Wan recently took to Twitter to denounce any news of the movie that had been circling around.

Now that we know that casting information and story information was all wrong, who do you want to see in the movie and what do you think the story should be? It definitely needs Scorpion, Sub Zero, and Raiden though. What if it were set in the future? That could be really cool. Let us know your ideal Mortal Kombat movie.

DICE Revealed Everything They Learned From The Alpha For BATTLEFIELD 5

GT_BattlefieldV_00 (1).jpg

Last month, DICE hosted a closed alpha for Battlefield V, allowing a small group of players to try out an early version of the game set in the map of Arctic Fjord. Now, DICE published a detailed blog post explaining the data and feedback they were able to gather during the alpha.

According to the developer, the primary purpose of the alpha was to test the game's technical components such as the "many backend systems, player scoring rate, and many other things." During the alpha, the gameplay, especially the matching system was highlighted. DICE encountered several issues concerning the "matchmaking configuration" resulting in error prompts or players being put into "less suitable server locations."

"There are many factors to juggle when it comes to matchmaking: finding players with equal latency and skill level, and more - and these factors all need to co-exist," DICE's blog post explained.

Moreover, the closed alpha revealed a few issues with server stability. DICE explained that crashes should be as rare as possible and they were almost about to hit that target. Nevertheless, DICE will aim to improve stability.

Here is the breakdown of issues that will be addressed after the closed alpha:

  • Revive system is now 2.5 seconds faster and will be "less clunky."
  • Ammo will be limited at deployment, and changes are being made to achieve an "optimal balance."
  • Ultra powerful "reinforcement weapons," will be toned down
  • Time To Kill (TTK) will be a work in progress to improve camera shake when a player gets hit. DICE will also investigate possible changes to weapon damages as well

Battlefield V is set to release on October 19 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One with early access available to EA/Origin Access subscribers on October 11. Owners of the game's Deluxe Edition will also have early access on October 16.

Harrison Ford in Talks To Star in an Adaptation of Jack London’s CALL OF THE WILD

Jack London's classic novel Call of the Wild is set to get another feature film adaptation and Harrison Ford is in talks to star in the film.

The adventure novel was published in 1903 and the story focused on a dog named Buck, who eventually becomes prospector John Thornton’s closest ally in the wilderness as he treks across the Canadian Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. Ford will take on the role of Thornton, who had previously been played by Clark Gable and Charlton Heston.

The film is being directed by Chris Sanders (The Croods) from a script written by Michael Green (Logan). It's being developed as a CGI/live-action hybrid film and 20th Century Fox has set the released date for December 25, 2019.

With the release of Indian Jones 5 being delayed, Ford has got some time to kill. Call of the Wild seems like it would be a great project for him to be a part of and I hope that he ends up taking the gig.

It's good to see Ford's name attached to a film again other than Star Wars and Indiana Jones!

New Photo of Michael Myers Being a Creepy Murderous Stalker in HALLOWEEN

We've got a fresh new photo from the upcoming Halloween movie that was developed by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. It offers us another look at Michael Myers being his old creepy murderous self.

The photo comes from EW, and while talking to the magazine, Jamie Lee Curtis talks about the script for the film saying:

"What I loved is that it surgically excises all of that dead tissue. This is growing from just that original movie, 40 years later. There may be people who love the other movies, great — [they have] zero relevance to this story."

Green goes on to say that his Halloween film doesn’t entirely ignore the other sequels:

"This film isn’t one to narratively recognize any of the films other than the original Halloween. But we very much enjoy the other films and there’s a lot of very subtle shout-outs to a number of things that I think the big fans — the people that know the films scientifically — will get a kick out of, hopefully."

The movie is a direct sequel to the first film and it will feature Laurie Strode confront Michael Myers for the first time in forty years. When we catch up with her in the film, she has spent all those years preparing to kill Michael Myers if he ever ended up getting out of the insane asylum that he's been locked away in. Obviously, he does get out while en-route to a maximum security prison, and that's when the shit hits the fan.

The movie also stars Judy Greer as Karen Strode, the daughter of Laurie, and Andi Matichak (Orange Is the New Black, Underground) plays Allyson, the granddaughter.

John Carpenter is an executive producer on the film and is also serving as a creative consultant. He is also creating the musical score.

Halloween will be released on October 19, 2018.

Mark Hamill Reflects On Playing The Joker in BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

It’s crazy to think that its been 26 years since Mark Hamill first voiced The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, which is considered by many to be the greatest animated series of all time.

With the upcoming Blu-ray and HD release of the series, Hamill took to Twitter to reflect on the opportunity he was given to play this classic villain:

Hamill is my favorite version of the character. He brought this character to life in a way no one else could and he set the standard that all other Jokers would be judged by.

It’s crazy to think that he wasn’t originally supposed to play The Joker. Tim Curry was originally cast and the end up replacing him with Hamill later down the line. Bruce Timm preciously said:

“Most of you guys probably know Mark first did the voice for us in the first Mr. Freeze episode — he played the guy who caused Mr. Freeze’s wife to end up in a coma. Hamill was so excited and full of enthusiasm for Batman.
“He’s a huge comic book fan and he really wanted to play one of the big villains at that time and he specifically mentioned the Joker, and at that time we were using Tim Curry as the Joker. And he was really disappointed and he said, ‘Well, if anybody else shows up like Hugo Strange or somebody, give me a call.’ So many months later we made the difficult decision to replace Tim and we brought Mark in to audition for the Joker and he nailed it.”

I think they made the right decision. Hamill was perfect as The Joker.

Batman: The Animated Series will be available for streaming in HD through the DC Universe streaming service and will make its Blu-ray debut sometime this year.

Adorable Character Posters For CHRISTOPHER ROBIN Feature Winnie The Pooh and His Friends

Disney has released a collection of new character posters for their upcoming film Christopher Robin, which looks absolutely fantastic. The posters feature Winnie The Pooh and his lovable friends. I also included a couple of other posters that were released for the film as well.

The story is set in the year is 1949, and Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) is "an efficiency manager at a luggage company, tasked with finding the resources to prevent many of his workers from being laid off. That will mean missing the vacation he has planned with his wife, Evelyn (Hayley Atwell), and young daughter, Madeline (Bronte Carmichael). They’re heading to the Hundred Acre Wood while he’s stuck in London with work, when he gets a visit from his old friend Pooh. But he’s not the same person Pooh remembers."

Christopher Robin was directed by Marc Forster (World War Z) and it also stars Mark Gatiss as Keith Winslow, Robin’s boss. As far as the voices of the characters go Jim Cummings plays Winnie the Pooh; Chris O’Dowd plays Tigger; Brad Garrett plays Eeyore; Toby Jones plays Owl; Nick Mohammed plays Piglet; Peter Capaldi plays Rabbit; and Sophie Okonedo plays Kanga.

The movie will be released in theaters on August 3rd.

MEGA MAN X LEGACY COLLECTION 1 & 2 Will Be Friendly To Beginners

GT_MegamanX_00 (1).jpg

Capcom's Mega Man franchise has been an iconic series in the history of gaming, but it is also notoriously challenging, especially for beginning players. In a recent article by Siliconera, it was revealed that the upcoming Switch titles, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2, will make gameplay a little easier for beginners with the introduction of a Rookie Hunter mode.

The new mode can be toggled both in the main menu and anytime during the game. It also allows players to decrease damage taken by 50%. If the Rookie Hunter Mode is toggled on in Mega Man X4 and X8, it will prevent the occurrence of instant deaths from spikes and bottomless pits.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will release to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on July 24. The collection will also feature extra goodies such as gacha capsule toys, cards, and soundtracks. Lastly, both editions will include a 25-minute animated feature called "The Day of Σ," and will serve as the prologue to Mega Man X.

What do you think of the new Rookie Hunter Mode?

Taco Bell’s DEMOLITION MAN-Themed Commercial is a Dramatic and Intense Ad For Nacho Fries

Taco Bell has released a new commercial/trailer for the return of their nacho fries and it's the most dramatic and intense commercial I recall seeing for a fast food chain! The ad stars Josh Duhamel and it ties into the 25th anniversary of Demolition Man. This is the description that was offered by AdWeek:

In the riveting advert for Web of Fries II: Franchise Wars, we see the return of hero Josh Duhamel in a future dystopia where the downtrodden common people have launched a rebellion against Big Fry, which is attempting to hide the truth from the public about nacho fries.

Marisa Thalberg, chief brand officer of Taco Bell, talked about the commercial/trailer, saying:

"When you create a fake trailer for a fake movie for a real product that surpasses all expectations of products (and movie trailers), it seems inevitable that you have to create a sequel. And what better way to tease this sequel than pay homage to a real movie’s 25th anniversary—one that had a very compelling view of a fictional future?"

In Demolition Man, Taco Bell is revealed to be the only restaurant chain that survived the "Franchise Wars." You can watch both the original commercial and the new one below. I like this kind of marketing because it's so much fun! Enjoy!

Fans are Once Again Reminded that VENOM is Not Part of the MCU

Venom will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I know what you’re thinking, “they’ve already told us it’s not part of the MCU a dozen times.” It seems that some fans forget or don’t hear those announcements. EW recently talked about the upcoming film starring Tom Hardy and explained it thusly:

Venom is the first of Sony’s new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although it’s a separate world from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (It’s also not part of the deal between Sony and Disney that allows Tom Holland’s Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

I know a lot of fans were hoping to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man make an appearance, but as EW points out, it’s not going to happen. I do think it’d be great if Holland did have a little cameo as some random pedestrian or something, though.

Many fans are on the fence about this one, myself included, but hopefully, Sony will be to deliver a great product. Ruben Fleischer is directing Venom which will be released October 5, 2018.

Keanu Reeves Rides a Horse Through New York City in JOHN WICK 3 Set Video

A video from the set of John Wick 3: Parabellum has surfaced online and it gives us a look at Keanu Reeves riding through the New York City streets... on a horse. There's just something about seeing John Wick riding on horseback that's pretty badass.

Reeves will be joined by Laurence FishburneIan McShane and Lance Reddick who are returning to reprise their previous roles. They will be joined by Halle Berry as Sofia, Anjelica Huston who will play a character known as The Director, Asia Kate Dillon will be playing The Adjudicator of the High Table. Mark Dacascos will take on the role of an assassin named Zero, and Jason Mantzoukas will be playing the Tick Tock Man.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s ‘Excommunicado’ – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

John Wick: Chapter 3 is set to hit theaters May 17, 2019.
