I'll admit, I miss going to Disneyland and watching Captain EO. Every time I went to Disneyland when I was growing up I couldn't miss that amazing sci-fi 3-D experience! Yeah, you can now watch it on the internet now, but it doesn't have the same effect as watching it in that theater at Disneyland.
If you're a fan of Captain EO, I've got something here you've gotta see! A rough cut of the Francis Ford Coppola-directed George Lucas-produced film has surfaced online. It's a very early version of the film that features some rough animation in place of the special effects, unfinished audio, and it even ends with ends with some footage from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which was animated by a division of George Lucas’s computer graphics company that would later become Pixar.
If you want a little more Captain EO goodness, I also included an episode of the web series Defunctland that is filled with some great fun facts and info on the development of this classic, which at the time was said to be the most expensive movie ever produced if you measure by the minute.
