Tom Cruise is Rumored to Be Up For The Role of Hal Jordan in GREEN LANTERN CORPS

Could Tom Cruise end up playing Hal Jordan in DC's Green Lantern Corps? Well, according to a new rumor, the Warner Bros. want the actor for the role! But, there's one condition he is said to have before he does it.

According to Heroic Hollywood, "the current script calls for Hal Jordan to die which Cruise is against. The actor is asking for this part of the script to be changed before he takes the gig."

That's right. Tom Cruise wants Hal Jordan to live if he takes the role. Obviously, he'd like the option of coming back to the role if any sequels that are made.

This wouldn't be the first time that Cruise's name has been attached to the role. Back in 2017, he was included on a shortlist of other actors that included Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Armie Hammer, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

It looks like maybe the studio has zoned in Cruise. It makes sense if they are. After all, his latest film Mission: Impossible - Fallout was a huge hit. Now, I'm a big fan of Tom Cruise, but it's hard to imagine him in the role of Hal Jordan. He wouldn't be my first choice to take the part. But, if they do end up casting him, obviously it'll be interesting to see what his vision of the character is.

Green Lantern Corps is currently being written by Geoff Johns and as far as the plot goes, all we know is that it will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, which is what I think most fans expected.

Green Lantern Corps is one of a ton of DC projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. along with The Batman, The Flash, The New Gods, Man of Steel 2, Nightwing, Gotham City Sirens, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Booster Gold, Justice League Dark, Suicide Squad 2, Batgirl, Blackhawk, and two Joker films.

What do you all think about the possibility of Tom Cruise playing Hal Jordan?

Disney Will Not Rehire James Gunn For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

After a strong push by the fans and the cast to get James Gunn back on board to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Disney is standing firm in their decision and will not rehire Gunn.

As you all know, Gunn was fired by Disney shortly after some old tasteless and offensive jokes resurfaced thanks to an alt-right agitator. Fans thought there was a glimmer of hope when word got out that Marvel Studios was trying to persuade Disney to bring him back on. But, it turns out that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stands by the studio’s decision to not bring Gunn back.

According to Variety, "Gunn and his UTA reps pushed hard for him to be given a second chance, and Horn decided to take a courtesy meeting on Tuesday to clear the air and see if there was a possibility of Gunn returning to the franchise. Though the meeting was described as civil and professional, sources say that Horn stood by his decision to not reinstate Gunn as director."

According to an inside source, Feige was "out of town" and unable to attend that meeting. When Feige gets back into town, Disney and Marvel will continue the search for a new director to replace Gunn. Whoever is brought in will likely take the script that Gunn wrote and "put a polish on it in order to add their stamp to the project."

I'm not a big fan of this news. It makes me sad. But, life goes on and the film will get made without Gunn. I'm not worried about Gunn, though, he'll be fine. he's getting a ton of other film project offers and I'll be looking forward to seeing what he does next!

New Photo of Chris Pine as The Scottish Warrior Robert The Bruce in OUTLAW KING

We've got a new photo to share with you today of Chris Pine as Robert The Bruce in the upcoming Scottish war movie Outlaw King. The film comes from Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie and it's period epic that will tell the true story of the Scottish king, Robert The Bruce, who led his country to freedom from English rule in the early 14th century. The story is set during the brutal period between 1298 to 1306 when Scotland was at the knees of King Edward I of England.

I'm excited to see this film. Braveheart is one of my favorite movies of all time and Outlaw King seems to interweave with that story. Pine also looks great in the role. When talking about the film, producer Gillian Barrie tells EW:

"Robert sacrificed everything he once owned to set Scotland free. He was the second richest person in the British Isles. He gave up everything to take on the most ridiculously powerful army and king. He had to go to hell and back.
"I’m very happy for William to be a national treasure, an icon. But it’s much more deserving that Robert the Bruce gets his place in history."

She goes on to talk about Pine taking on the role of Bruce, saying:

"He’s amazing, apart from the fact his accent is spot on and his horsemanship was stunning. He was genuinely a leader for the rest of the cast. The amount of stunts and action he had to perform on daily basis … riding in a wild terrain, thrown into waterfalls…my hat’s off to him, really."

The movie also stars Ben Foster, Duncan Lacroix, Steven Cree, Alastair Mackenzie, and Florence Pugh. The movie will be released on Netflix on November 9th.

Elizabeth Banks Set To Star in a Film about a Wyoming Hotel Maid That Went on a Dream Date with Prince

Paramount Players has picked up the right to a story from the Daily Beast titled "When Prince Made a Chambermaid His Queen for a Day". Elizabeth is set to star in and produce the film, which tells the story of a Wyoming hotel maid that won a dream date with Prince in 1986. Here's the story of how that went down and what the story will focus on:

The studio staged Win A Date With Prince, an MTV contest in which the 10,000th caller won a date with the rock star. Actually, more than a date: the studio would stage a premiere of Prince’s film in the winner’s hometown, followed by a concert toplined by Prince and The Revolution. The winner was Lisa Barber, a young lady in Sheridan, Wyoming who cleaned hotels and was a big Motley Crue fan. The movie is inspired by an article about the Cinderella story date, but the movie will be about how the event changed the lives of two very different women – the Manhattan PR exec responsible for the event’s success and the shy, awkward contest winner from Wyoming, whose town becomes the unexpected nexus of all things Prince for one unforgettable night.

The report goes on to say that Prince will not be in the movie and clarifies he will not be played by an actor. It's explained that "his presence will hover through the film." The report adds:

The movie will focus on the herculean effort that went into organizing an event that brought the 5’3″ purple-clad rock icon to a small cowboy town and established his date as a reluctant media sensation. As the article implied “behind the scenes, coke-fueled chaos reigned.” This added to the complexity because though Prince died from an accidental overdose of the opiod Fentanyl at age 57 (he took the drug to dull the pain from the physical toll of executing his manic dance moves and jumps wearing his ever present high heeled boots) — Prince at the time was a teetotaler who actually fined his guitarist Wendy Melvoin for drinking a Bud at the bar with Joni Mitchell that night.

Banks will play the publicist in the story, Robyn Riggs, in the film and it's said that she "was no choir girl." This sounds like an interesting story to tell and I'll be looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Screenwriter Flora Greeson was hired to rewrite a first draft that originally written by producer Josh Stolberg. Here's some old video footage giving you a little more insight into the story.

Joel Kinnaman and More Join Ronald D. Moore’s Upcoming Apple Sci-Fi Series

Ronald D. Moore has filled out the main cast of his upcoming Apple sci-fi series. Joel Kinnaman, who most recently starred in Netflix's Altered Carbon, is set to take on the lead role. The story is set on a world where the global space race never ended and Kinnaman will play a man named Edward Baldwin, who is one of the top NASA astronauts.

It's great to see Kinnaman land another big series role. He is also attached to star in the Amazon series adaptation of the film Hanna and is also known for his roles on the shows House of Cards and The Killing.

The series also cast Michael Dorman (Patriot) and Sarah Jones (Alcatraz) in the series and they have been cast as Gordo and Tracy Stevens, a prominent NASA couple.

There's no title for the series yet, but I've liked the work that Moore has done in the past so I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. It certainly has an interesting premise.

Ryan Reynolds Shares His Original Story Pitch For DEADPOOL 2 That No One Was Impressed With

Ryan Reynolds and the Deadpool creative team were on cloud nine after Deadpool ended up being a huge hit at the box office and it didn't take long for them to get to work on developing a sequel. The first thing that happens in that process, though, is to come up with an initial idea for the story and Reynolds pitched a really weird one that the studio was not impressed with.

While talking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, The actor shared the pitch that he made and it involved a heist based around Deadpool stealing the big red chair from the TV show The Voice. As you might imagine, the idea was rejected! He says:

“At the time – my first pitch to the studio was not met very well. I pitched them for [Deadpool 2]… the whole story of the movie would be Deadpool trying to steal the big, red chair from The Voice. And they were like: ‘That’s just the dumbest thing ever.’”

That might have made a fun little gag in the film, but to set a whole story around that is kinda ridiculous. Think about it, the success of a billion-dollar film franchise could have rested on a sequel based on a joke about stealing a piece of furniture from a TV show! At the same time, it's Deadpool, so anything is possible!

I mean, I can see why Deadpool would want the chair. I'm sure he could put it to good use. In the end, I liked the direction that they ended up talking the story. He went on to talk about that little Brad Pitt cameo in the film as The Vanisher, and explains that it was a hard sell:

"He doesn’t speak and he’s invisible. And [Fox] are like, ‘Why Brad Pitt?’ Oh, because you see him, you know, for a quarter of a second… then he unfortunately dies by electrocution."

I'm still surprised that they managed to get Brad Pitt to do that! That was so great! Anyway, what do you think about the initial pitch that Reynolds made for Deadpool 2?

This Looks like a solid spy movie and the fact that it's based on a true story makes it even more interesting. The film stars Marwan Kenzari (The Promise), Toby Kebbell (War for the Planet of the Apes) and Hannah Ware (Aftermath).

The Angel was directed by Ariel Vromen (The Iceman) from a script by David Arata (Children of Men). It will premiere on Netflix on September 14, 2018.
