Paul Walker’s Family Wants To Bring His FAST & FURIOUS Character Back To The Franchise

It's been five years since Paul Walker passed away. I thought the Fast and Furious franchise did a wonderful job giving the actor and character the perfect send-off in Furious 7. They were able to pull that off with the help of his brothers Caleb and Cody and now those brothers would like to see Paul's character return to the franchise. That seems like it would be tricky to pull off, but they are opened to trying to find a way to make it happen.

Personally, I don't think that needs to happen. I love Paul and his character in the franchise, but the franchise closed the book on the character the best way that they could and trying to bring him back at this point seems like a bad idea. While talking to the AP, Caleb said:

"I just hope we get to — I don’t know — have a little cameo and bring Paul back to save the day and I get to help create that again. That’s my dream and I hope we get to do that in one of the future movies."

Cody Walker added:

"I think there could potentially be a way to do it. But it would take a lot of thought and it’d have to be tasteful. It would have to be tasteful. He was the real deal, the real car guy. And in his absence, I — you know — I think it’s lost its way in a big way."

I totally understand why the Walker brothers would want to find a way to bring Paul back to the franchise. But, for the fans like myself... what they pulled off with Furious 7 was the perfect way to say goodbye.

But, I guess if the studio wanted to bring him back, they could pull it off with CGI technology, which has improved since Furious 7. When addressing that final CGI shot of Paul Walker's face in the film, Caleb had this to say:

"It’s kind of creepy sometimes when you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s me.’ It doesn’t feel right."

What do you all think about the thought of bringing Paul Walker's character back to the Fast and Furious franchise in some way?

Netflix Renews ANNE WITH AN E For a Third Season

I know Anne With an E may not seem like the kind of show that you want to watch, but I've been watching it with my girls and it's actually really good!  If you haven't watched it. you should give it a shot. The show is apparently doing pretty good in the ratings as Netflix and CBC have renewed Anne With an E for a third season.

The series is inspired by Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel Anne of Green Gables, and Sally Catto, General Manager of Programming at CBC had this to say about the series renewal:

"We are thrilled to be able to announce a third season of Anne with an E before season two premieres in Canada. Anne with an E delivered a rich first season, drawing in both new and existing fans to the world of Avonlea. We have no doubt that Canadians will continue to fall in love with this beautiful and heartwarming series for seasons to come."

Cindy Holland, VP of original content for Netflix added:

"Through the storytelling of Anne with an E, the classic Canadian tale has transcended borders and found fans across our global membership. We are excited to continue our partnership with CBC and Northwood and bring the series back for a third season."

Showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett said:

"Our beloved Anne will be 16 years old when we return to this season full of romantic complications, bold adventures and dramatic discoveries. I will explore important, contemporary themes that I hope will continue to resonate with, and inspire and uplift, our audience."

And then there's executive producer Miranda de Pencier, who said:

"We’re super thrilled that this series has resonated in 190 countries. I’m also very proud that we make our show in Canada with a wonderfully talented group of artists – led by the brilliant Moira Walley-Beckett. The character of Anne gives people permission to be themselves because she is so resoundingly herself. There are so many walls being built and so much fear growing in the world right now and Anne offers us a reminder that it’s okay to stay positive, be kind, and to dream, no matter how tough life gets – which is inspiration we all need."

Season 3 is expected to premiere on Netflix and CBC next year.

The Avengers Had A Better Shot At Beating Thanos Than Winning The Lottery

Destroying Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War was apparently really hard to do, as Doctor Strange rattled off a number that ran through just how many scenarios they failed before they managed to beat him. Hilariously enough, CinemaSins recently pointed out that number is still drastically lower than what it would take to win the Powerball Jackpot:

You might just want to toss that lottery ticket in the trash. Either that, or Marvel should've had Benedict Cumberbatch rattle off a much higher number to make Thanos sound more impressive? Either way, I'm not sure I ever want to play the lottery again.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #30 has dropped and that means we’re going to see what cool things we can spot. If you haven’t read it yet, this is your warning that spoilers are ahead.

This issue picks up with an interesting conversation between Zordon and Commander Cruger and Rita Repulsa. The two good guys try getting Rita to help save the day since if Drakkon gets his way, everything in existence will disappear and Rita’s part of that existence. She doesn’t seem to care too much about all of this until they bring up the fact that Drakkon killed his Rita and Drakkon’s powers are still rooted in Rita’s magic. Zordon then points out that he and Rita go way back and he wishes there was another way. I really liked this interaction between Zordon and Rita and it feels like it could potentially point to something like from the 2017 movie where they were both Rangers once upon a time. I’d love for Hasbro to really develop this idea in future movies.

Cut over to Drakkon who is pouring some molten ninja steel on Sabba and later we’ll learn this gives him the magical ability to drain the Ranger powers on the battlefield. However, the last panel of Drakkon starts a speech Jason is giving to all the Rangers that have gathered to attack Drakkon’s stronghold. During the speech we see awesome interactions such as Jen and Eric from Time Force reuniting, a hilarious introduction between the Phantom Ranger and the Magna Defender, and we see the Ranger Slayer has returned. Kimberly tells Jason the speech was awesome, and Jason then asks Kimberly to take control of the Megazord even though Pterodactyl isn’t part of the Dragonzord Battle Mode. With this, Jason hands over the Dragon Dagger and Power Shield to Kimberley, and I wish we got a better look at it.

The Rangers then begin their assault and we’re shown Cruger, Zordon, Rita, and Ninjor appear in what I believe is Rita’s throne room from Drakkon’s universe. We finally get to see what the grand plan is too. Rita lights a green candle like the one from Green with Evil and we find out that Drakkon’s powers are now linked to the candle just as they were in Green with Evil. This was an awesome way to bring Drakkon down in my opinion. While Drakkon isn’t defeated in this issue, it’s awesome to see this nod to the original show. Rita then decides to speed the candle up and for some reason, Zordon’s not ok with this. I’ll be honest, I didn’t understand why he wasn’t ok with speeding up the process that he seemed ok with starting.

Before Drakkon confronts Zordon and pals, Drakkon shows up and starts whooping the Rangers and stealing some more of their powers. Kimberly then shoots Drakkon with the Dragon Dagger which I assume is when the candle starts taking effect as that is when he seems to be weakening. Skip ahead a little and Drakkon learns that Zordon and Rita teamed up and Rita says she wants to speed things up. Finster 5 then shocks them all and seemingly knocks them out. Drakkon then decides he needs more power (understandably as his powers are being drained), but Finster 5 refuses to help him with the method Drakkon chooses as it could kill Drakkon. This, of course, angers Drakkon who snaps Finster 5’s neck (that’s two necks he’s snapped) and then goes on to try to boost his power.

We sadly don’t see the Black Drakkon from the cover, but I’m wondering if that’s the form he will have in the finale. My big question is, will the power boost stop the Green Candle from working? Also, what’s Ranger Slayer planning with a “moon rescue”? Was she referring to saving Zordon and company in Drakkon’s world?

My guess is that Ranger Slayer will play a role in bringing Drakkon down, but I kind of hope that Jason is the one to bring him down. I also don't see how Drakkon can come out of this alive. I hope that we get more of the battle that is ensuing.

Shattered Grid should be wrapping up with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Shattered Grid #1 on August 29, 2018. What’s been your favorite part of Shattered Grid so far?

Casting Details For DC’s STARGIRL Have Surfaced

DC is currently working on developing Stargirl for DC Universe. The TV show will center around its own version of Courtney Whitmore and they’ve begun looking for the perfect actor for the role. According to That Hashtag Show, the studio is looking for an 18-year-old to play the 15-year old character. They also seem to not be paying attention to race which means that the show’s version may not be the blonde haired, blue eyed girl from the comics.

The report goes on to describe the character as such:

The character is described as being “an intelligent, compassionate and athletic young woman” who was living a “perfect teenage life in Los Angeles” before she’s uprooted to Blue Valley, Nebraska when her mother gets married. In Nebraska, she discovers that her stepfather used to be a superhero’s sidekick and thus Courtney’s adventures begin.

Who would you like to see cast as Stargirl?

Indie Game GONE HOME Is Heading To The Switch Soon

Five years after it was initially released, the hit indie-game Gone Home is scheduled to launch for the Nintendo Switch later this month, publisher Annapurna Interactive announced yesterday.

Gone Home will be available on the Nintendo Switch on August 23. A Wii U port was initially planned back in 2014 but never came into fruition. However, the game was then released to other platforms such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and the latter even received a special Console Edition in 2016.

The indie-game served as the debut title for developer Fullbright as it influenced the story-driven adventure game genre. The title’s unique visuals and deeply immersive story were the factors that drove it to success and helped secure Fullbright’s place in indie-game development.

Gone Home is a first-person exploratory game that puts players in the role of a woman making her way home only to find her house empty and her family missing. The game was commended for addressing LGBT issues and allowing players to explore and discover its secrets on their own pace.

The game’s release on the Nintendo Switch aims to introduce Gone Home to an even wider audience who missed out on its previous release on the PC and other consoles.

Gone Home is now available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch version of the game is scheduled to release on August 23, 2018.

The Characters Ling and Po Will Be in Disney Live-Action MULAN

Mulan is officially in the middle of production and we have now learned of two new characters joining it. Ling and Po, two of Mulan’s friends from the original animated film will make an appearance. Ling will be played by Jimmy Wong and Doua Moua will play Po. There’s no word on what role these two will have in the film, but I imagine it will be similar to their roles in the animated film as two of her friends in the army.

Mulan is the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China. The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever.

Niki Caro is directing Mulan and Lie Yifei is in the titular role. Mulan will release March 27, 2020.

The Analyst is Activated in Thrilling Final Trailer For Amazon’s JACK RYAN Series

Amazon Studios has released the final trailer for their upcoming new espionage thriller series Jack Ryan, which is based on the iconic character created by Tom Clancy. As a fan of the Jack Ryan franchise, I'm pretty excited about this new series and I think John Krasinski is going to do the character justice.

Amazon has high hopes for the series and they were confident in it enough to already greenlight an eight-episode second season.

Jack Ryan, an up-and-coming CIA analyst, is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. He soon uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

Jack Ryan Season 1 is set to premiere on August 31st. Are you looking forward to watching this series?
