A Samurai Warrior Battles Zombies in Great Short Film SWORD OF THE DEAD

Alright ladies and gents, I've got an outstanding proof of concept short film for you to watch today called Sword of the Dead. It's an old-school style Samurai film that's set in feudal Japan. The story centers on a ronin warrior who returns home from exile to find the island he once knew is plagued by a dark curse and overrun by the undead. Yes, this is a Samurai zombie and it actually is done extremely well! I love the old 1960s Samurai film style. There are some great little details in the film and it feels like an authentic Samurai movie.

The short was written, directed, produced, and edited by Stephen Vitale, who hopes to develop it as a feature film. If he did... I'd totally watch it! I'm a big fan of this and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

The Xbox’s E3 Conference Takes The Title Of The Most Watched Twitch Stream Of All Time

Microsoft's President of Gaming Phil Spencer at the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing

Microsoft's President of Gaming Phil Spencer at the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing

The recently concluded E3 2018 announced a multitude of game announcements and the revelation of release dates from previously reported titles. It’s hard to pick a favorite E3 presentation as all developers each had their own exciting games on the way soon. However, it seems that Microsoft has taken the spot of the most most-watched live stream in the history of Twitch.

GitHyp’s analysts reported that Microsoft’s E3 2018 presentation took the top spot as the most viewed live stream watched on Twitch. This is not the first time Microsoft achieved this milestone as they were also recognized as the most-watch E3 live stream last year. However, for this year, Microsoft’s stream was also the most viewed on the streaming platform with an impressive 1.7 million.

“Now, for the second year in a row, Microsoft’s live stream was the highest viewed stream on Twitch,” as reported by GitHyp. “But Microsoft’s Xbox E3 Briefing wasn’t just the most watched live event of this year’s convention…it was also the highest concurrent viewer count of any stream ever on Twitch, pulling in an impressive 1.7 million viewers at its peak.”

Here is the list containing views per presentation of the following developers and publishers at E3 2018:

  • Microsoft/Xbox - 1.7 million viewers (1.1 million in 2017)
  • Ubisoft - 1.6 million viewers (986k in 2017)
  • Sony/PlayStation - 1.5 million viewers (926k in 2017)
  • Bethesda - 964k viewers (233k in 2017)
  • PC Gaming Show - 893k viewers (552k in 2017)
  • Nintendo/Switch - 679k viewers (292k in 2017)
  • EA (Electronic Arts) - 528k viewers (676k in 2017)

It is worth noting that every single one of the developers and publishers listed above saw an increase in viewership versus last year except for EA. Microsoft’s conference included a plethora of first and third party announcements such as Cyberpunk 2077Just Cause 4, Devil May Cry V, Fallout76 and many others.

What Did You All Think of INCREDIBLES 2!? Also I’ve Included a Video Breakdown of Easter Eggs

what-did-you-all-think-of-incredibles-2-also-ive-included-a-video-breakdown-of-easter-eggs-social.jpg

We've waited fourteen long years for a sequel to The Incredibles. It's kinda crazy that we actually got a sequel. What's even crazier is that Pixar and director Brad Bird actually delivered an awesome sequel! In my opinion, Incredibles 2 was a perfect sequel to the first film and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I took my kids to see it over the weekend and they absolutely loved it!

What's funny is that after the movie ended, one of my daughters says to me, "hopefully we don't have to wait another fourteen years for another sequel." She's thirteen years old! She wasn't even born when the first movie came out and that weirded me by out a bit. When I pointed that out to her she just busted up laughing.

Anyway, I had a blast watching Incredibles 2. The action was amazing, the story was so much fun, and the continuing character development of these characters was... incredible. I loved the dynamic of Elastigirl going out to save the world and Mr. Incredible staying at home with the kids. As a dad works from home and takes care of the kids at the same time, the film was totally relatable.

Pixar knocked this one out of the park and it's easily one of my favorite films. The Incredibles has been number one on my list for years, now this sequel has to fill the number two spot. This movie made me happy.

The movie exploded at the box office this weekend pulling in Marvel kind of numbers. It made $180 million domestically and $51.5 million internationally, which bring the grand total to $231.5 million on its opening weekend.

If you've seen the movie, what did you think!? Did you enjoy it? Hate it? Was it worth the fourteen-year-long wait? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I've included a fun video from Mr. Sunday Movies that points out a lot of Easter eggs in the film that you may or may not have missed.

Details on How ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Will Explore The Quantum Realm

For me, one of the most exciting aspects of Ant-Man and The Wasp is that it's is going to dive in and explore the Quantum Realm even more. One of the main aspects of the story will involve the team rescuing Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) from the Quantum Realm where she has been stuck for years. Janet Van Dyne is the wife of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and mother of Hope (Evangeline Lilly).

We got a little taste of the Quantum Realm in the first film, which Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) was narrowly able to escape from. Now that they are going to be spending more time there, the creative team had to figure out what exactly the Quantum Realm would be and how it would look. During a set visit for the film, director Peyton Reed explained:

"When we started talking about the Quantum Realm, it's problematic in terms of the fact that it's essentially infinite. It can be whatever you want it to be, and so we needed to decide what the Quantum Realm wants to be for our story, and then what it is in sort of the larger sense of things. I knew one thing, there had to be a device with which they enter the Quantum Realm. In the first movie, Scott goes down, he adjusts the regulator and goes down just freefall. Here it needed to be bigger. It needed to be something that was not a game time decision and not accidental, but something very, very constructed and purposeful."

One of the things that they ended up coming up with to travel into the Quantum Realm was a specially-designed pod from Dr. Hank Pym's lab. This pod will be the best way that the team will be able to gain controlled access to the alternate reality.

The director went on and talked about the importance of the practical effects aspect of the film and they ended up building a full-size version of this pod!

"The pod that they go down in, that was another thing that felt... if I'm a kid, I want to play with this thing. It's got to be functional, and you look at this thing and you'll be able to sort of scrutinize it down there, but you really see this is a... it really feels like, 'Oh, okay, I could get in that thing and head down there.' So the, the tactile quality was really important."

It would have been so cool to play around in this thing! I just can't wait to see the adventure that awaits Hope Van Dyne in the Quantum Realm when she goes in to save her mom! It's explained that Ant-Man and The Wasp are going to be on separate missions in this film:

"It's not Ant-Man With The Wasp, it's Ant-Man and The Wasp. It's important to tell those stories separately, and invest in each of the characters' journey and arc in the movie. One of the big things about this is what's going on with Hope... The mission that is happening with her, entirely separate of Scott, is vital and it's her mission. It's not her dad's mission. It's her mission. Hank and Hope are working together, but it's really Hope leading the charge, and that was an important thing when we started talking about what was going on, is the what and why of this mission."

Ant-Man and The Wasp hits theaters on July 6th.

The Upcoming BUMBLEBEE Movie Could Lead to a Solo Optimus Prime Movie

After all these years, it looks like there's a chance that Paramount Pictures finally got the Transformers franchise right with director Travis Knight's upcoming Bumblebee movie. Fans loved that first trailer that was released and it looks like this movie might actually end up being a great film. It's definitely a change of pace from what Paramount was previously doing with the franchise. Now it sounds like if everything goes well for this movie, it could lead to Optimus Prime getting his very own solo film.

During a recent interview with EW, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explained why they decided to do a Bumblebee spinoff film instead to continuing what they've been doing, saying:

"We were headed down the Bumblebee path well before the release of the last Transformers. We had felt that with the fifth movie, we had sort of run out of room with where to take it."

I'm sure there is some truth to that, but there was another Transformers movie in development that they recently ended up removing from their release calendar, so they obviously didn't feel earlier in the year that they had run out of room on where to take it.

Regardless, taking the franchise in a new direction is a smart move because that last movie that was released wasn't only terrible, but it was a box office failure. The producer goes on to explain why they chose Bumblebee for the first solo film outing:

"We’ve gotten a lot of feedback from the fans that they wanted us to do a deep dive on one or two of the robots, because they wanted to get to know them better. Bumblebee was selected because he’s such a loved figure, and he’s also more emotional than Optimus. Those were the two likely characters."

This means that Optimus Prime was discussed as a potential solo film, and if Bumblebee does well, we could see an Optimus Prime movie next, which would be awesome. Lorenzo di Bonaventura goes on to elaborate on why Optimus didn't come first, saying:

"He’s a stoic leader, and you can count on him. Whereas Bumblebee is the one who is more emotionally volatile. He has a lot of ups and downs. So it seemed like the best character to try for the first time zeroing in on one Autobot."

He then goes on to that an Optimus Prime movie remains at the top of their list and that if they did make an Optimus Prime film, it would be very different than Bumblebee:

"I’d certainly like to do that. It would be a very different kind of movie than a Bumblebee movie, but equally interesting and different."

Obviously, if these films actually did well and the fans end up enjoying them, we will see sequels to them and maybe even more films focus on certain characters.

"If Bee’s successful, we can have a Bee 2, no doubt. We have a good sense of where a second movie would go. For me, the greatest thing that came out of the writer’s room was the sense that we could go in any number of directions. It opened up our minds to choices."

Then, of course, Di Bonaventura starts to complicate things with the franchise by talking about time travel:

"We could do a time travel movie. You could take almost any genre and do it. You can go back in the past, you can go to the future. So I think we’ve got an abundance of choices. It’s really more about narrowing them down than anything else, and deciding which one we think is the strongest one to go with next."

Yeah, I get what he's saying, but don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. That was one of the main problems with Michael Bay's films. Just tell good solid stories with these characters.

It will be interesting to see how audiences respond to Bumblebee when it's released on December 21st. After that comes out and we see that it;'s actually good, then we can start to really get excited about the future of the franchise.

New WONDER WOMAN 1984 Set Videos Show Gal Gadot Running Fast as Hell

Two new videos have surfaced from the set of Wonder Woman 1984, which is currently shooting in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The first video shows Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) caught in the middle of a protest/riot. The second video features Wonder Woman running fast as hell down Pennsylvania Ave. As you'll see, Gal Gadot is impressively fast!

Wonder Woman's next adventure thrusts her into the 80s during the Cold War. She will be facing off with the villain Cheetah, who will be played by Kristen WiigNarcos star Pedro Pascal will also take on a lead role in the film. We just don't know what that role is yet. We still don't know much about the story, but I imagine we'll get some information in regards to that Comic-Con next month.

The screenplay was written by director Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns, and Dave Callaham. The film will be released on November 1, 2019.

James Wan Will Be Bringing “Trench-Dwelling Cannibals” To AQUAMAN

james-wan-will-be-bringing-trench-dwelling-cannibals-to-aquaman-social.jpg

Last week DC fans were bombarded with all kinds of cool Aquaman photos and details. There was one other thing that I read about the film in EW that I didn't mention in any of the previous posts that I wanted to highlight here in case you missed it.

One of the coolest things that I saw was that director James Wan will get to play around with one of the horror aspects of Aquaman's world. When talking about how the Atlanteans will by riding great white sharks and sea dragons, it also mentions that there will be "trench-dwelling cannibals". Just in case you aren't familiar with who that might be, they are called The Trench and they're crazy!

They have the ability to spit a chemical from their mouth that can cause paralysis. They have superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, speed, senses, the ability to see perfectly in the pitch blackness of the deep ocean, and razor sharp teeth that are able to pierce Aquaman's scale armor and flesh.

When talking about the world that Wan has created for the film, he said:

"The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film. This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action."

It's explained that Aquaman starts with Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) living in a small coastal town in Maine. It's there where Mera shows up to warn him that his half-brother Orm is looking to declare war on the surface world and that's when Aquaman decides to spring into action.

Wan also explains that this is going to be more of a fantasy movie than a superhero film, and it's going to have an upbeat tone with a decent amount of humor to lighten the mood.

The first trailer for Aquaman is set to be released during Comic-Con, and it sounds like fans are going to be blown away. I'm pretty excited about this movie and I can't wait to see what Wan's version of The Trench are going to look like in the movie.

Aquaman is set to be released in theaters December 21, 2018

Wesley Snipes, Craig Robinson and More Join Eddie Murphy’s Netflix Film DOLEMITE IS MY NAME!

Eddie Murphy's upcoming Netflix film, Dolemite Is My Name!, just added a great ensemble cast! Murphy will be joined by Wesley Snipes, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess and Da'Vine Joy Randolph.

The film is a biopic that will tell the story of the life of Rudy Ray Moore, the star of the blaxploitation Dolemite films.

Moore worked in a Hollywood record store in 1970 when he began hearing obscene stories of a pimp and hustler named Dolemite. He started a club act where he became Dolemite. He then began generating records that mixed humor and a ghetto fantasy character, burnishing the legend. While too racy to be put on display in record stores, the records became a big inner city underground hit. The proceeds allowed Moore to finance the 1975 film Dolemite, which he starred in as a kung fu-capable pimp ghetto hero who stuck it to The Man. Moore followed with three sequels. He continues to be an influence for the likes of hip hop entrepreneur Snoop Dogg, and he had something of a comeback starring alongside the hip hop group Insane Clown Posse in Big Money Hustlas in 2000.

Murphy is taking on the role of Moore in the film. According to THR, Snipes will play D'Urville Martin, "an arrogant actor and alcoholic who ends up directing Dolemite." There's no word on who the other actors will be playing.

It's good to see that Snipes landed a good sized role in the movie, though! This should be a great role for him to take on.

Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) is directing the film and it has started shooting in Los Angeles.

New ANT-MAN AND THE WASP TV Spot Amusingly Ties Into AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

We've got another TV spot to share with you for Ant-Man and The Wasp. This one amusingly finds a way to tie into Avengers: Infinity War and teases that everything has been "leading up to this!" Then we see that Scott Lang isn't a big fan of the little desk that he's been given in the office. There's a few other bits of new footage including one of a ship traveling through the quantum realm. Check it out!

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

The mission will focus on Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne going into the quantum realm to save Janet Van Dyne, which is what I'm most excited about seeing.

Peyton Reed is directing Ant-Man and the Wasp and it stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michael Pena as Luis, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, T.I. as Dave, Randall Park as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jimmy Woo, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, and Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost.

Ant-Man and The Wasp will be released in theaters on July 6th, 2018.

OCTOPATH TRAVELER Will Not Get Any Additional Content After Release

A recent in interview with the Japanese website Dengeki Online and translated by Japanese Nintendo,  the producer for Octopath Traveler Masashi Takahashi revealed that the game will not offer any content after the game launches. Takahashi’s reason for this is simple, the game “is the finished product” when it releases for the Switch this July.

Of course, Octopath Traveler will be getting patches and updates if ever bugs and other issues come out, but aside from minor fixes, players should not expect characters outside the announced roster, or additional quests and chapters.  You can check out the gameplay demo of the game that was showcased at E3 last week.

In case you’re not familiar with what the game is about, here is the official description of the game by developer Square Enix:

Step into the shoes and live the stories of each of the eight travelers and freely explore the world of Orsterra. Then, carry your choices and adventure into the main game with save data transfer.
