Jeff Goldblum Says He’d Want to Make Another FLY Movie With David Cronenberg

David Cronenberg's The Fly is one of the most grotesque films I've ever seen. I love it! But, even to this day when I watch it, I still get a little sick to my stomach.

There is another remake of The Fly in development that is being directed by Slight helmer J.D. Dillard, but that should be scrapped for a new film that involved David Cronenberg and Jeff Goldblum

In a recent interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Goldblum says he would fully support another Fly movie and he'd even try to be involved with it if David Cronenberg was involved. He told them:

"I don’t think my character would be involved because of course I got tragically mutated with the fly and then the machine, oh boy. But maybe I show up as a grandchild of the original Seth Brundle, or Seth Brundle had a brother. Had a brother that emerges in some ways! Who knows, I don’t know but David Cronenberg was a thrill to work with. Boy, if he was involved I’d like to work with him again, I’ll tell you that."

Even if David Cronenberg didn't come back to direct a Fly movie, he and Goldblum still need to work together on some kind of film project! Hell, I would prefer that over another Fly movie! Let's get these two talents back together to make another crazy-ass movie!

Disney Offers First Look at New ROCKETEER Animated Series and Announces VIKINGSKOOL

Disney has released the first image from their upcoming Rocketeer animated adventure series for kids called The Rocketeer. They also announced a new animated series they are developing called Vikingskool and they offer a piece of art giving us a glimpse at what they are planning.

The Rocketeer was inspired by the classic Dave Stevens comic book series and it will introduce a whole new generation of kids to the property. Here's the synopsis:

The Rocketeer follows Kit, a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing that she’s next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-powered jet pack. Armed with her cool new gear and secret identity, Kit is ready to take flight and save the day with her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and airplane-mechanic uncle, Ambrose, who join her on epic adventures.

I know this is for kids, but I'm still curious to see how it turns out because I'm such a huge fan of the franchise!

Vikingskool was originally pitched towards more mature audiences and is now being developed into something that both kids and adults will enjoy.

According to Variety, The series will follow "a group of young would-be Viking warriors in an elite Vikingskool. Ross described the alumni as being 'Like freshmen in ‘Top Gun,’ but for Vikings.'"

The group will embark on a series of humorous and exciting adventures in a mystical world. At the heart of the tale are three best friends: Erik, Arnie and Ilba, each with their own unique Viking strengths and weaknesses.

This could end up being a fun series that could tap into the How to Train Your Dragon market.

Danny McBride Has a HALLOWEEN Sequel Planned, Jake Gyllenhaal Helped Get Jamie Lee Curtis Back, and Trauma is a Big Theme

We've got some interesting new information for you regarding the upcoming Halloween film from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. A lot of fans seemed to like the first teaser trailer that was released for the film. I did! It definitely got me excited!

Turns out when the creative team first started working on the project, Danny McBride also had a sequel idea and he wanted to shoot the two films back to back. In fact, that was the original plan. McBride told EW:

"We were going to shoot two of them back-to-back…Then we were like, Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. This could come out, and everyone could hate us, and we’d never work again. So, let’s not have to sit around for a year while we wait for another movie to come out that we know people aren’t going to like. So, we were like, Let’s learn from this, and see what works, and what doesn’t. But we definitely have an idea of where we would go [with] this branch of the story and hopefully we get a chance to do it."

That's probably the smart thing to do. But, at least we know that there is a sequel coming that will continue the story of this first film that will be released.

One of the things I was very happy to see regarding this film is that Jamie Lee Curtis was going to be back to reprise her role as Laurie Strode. I honestly never thought I'd see her in another Halloween movie ever again because she was killed off in Halloween: Resurrection. But, thanks to Jake Gyllenhaal, she came back for this film.

Yeah, Jake Gyllenhaal is an unlikely source, but according to Variety, Gyllenhaal is a family friend of Curtis’, and he apparently tracked down Curtis while she was on vacation and urged her to talk to director David Gordon Green about doing another Halloween film. Gyllenhaal and Green worked together on the film Stronger where they became friends. Curtis ended up talking to Green and she took the role! When comparing Green to John Carpenter, Curtis said:

“They’re both laid back and don’t take themselves too seriously."

One of the main things that drew Curtis back into the role in the new Halloween film was the theme of trauma. When talking to, Curtis explained:

"I have a friend of mine who is a doctor, a neuropsychologist, and they are studying stress and trauma now in children. Whatever the trauma, be it abuse, physical or emotional violence, whatever it is, the effect changes your brain chemistry, so for me what’s crucial is what level that trauma had on this character, who is now fifty-eight years old. And that trauma for her is this perseverating sense of eventuality that Michael will come back, and that every day of her life has been in preparation for that meeting."

Curtis goes on to talk about what Laurie Strode has gone through over the years up until the point we meet her again in this new movie:

"[Laurie] lives alone…She has tried to live in society but society has not been welcoming. There weren’t a lot of mental health professionals helping this young woman, so she banged her way into her life…This is a woman who knows exactly where Michael is and she knows (what he’s capable of), even though [others] are convinced that he’s somebody who they can maybe manage, work with through drugs, rehabilitate, and all of the rest of it. She is the only one who knows exactly who he is, and that’s who we find."

I like how they are handling this character in this new film. Seems like they have a better grasp and understanding of the character than the other films did.

Halloween opens on October 19, 2018.

Each of the episodes will tell a unique story that brings together all kinds of genres, tones, and a mash-up of genres that you normally don't see mashed together. Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN is Said To Focus on a Young Caped Crusader

A new piece of information has surfaced for Matt Reeves' The Batman. According to THR, the director has turned in the first act of his screenplay and it apparently focuses on a young version of the caped crusader.

I think a lot of fans figured this would be the case when we learned Ben Affleck wouldn't be back and it was reported that Reeves was looking at casting someone like Jake Gyllenhaal in the role of Bruce Wayne.

As we previously learned, Reeves is looking to make a dark noir-style film that will focus on the detective side of the Dark Knight, and he has an idea for a story arc that would span over the course of a trilogy of films. It's said that he's looking to keep the story grounded, but "will introduce at least some slight fantastical elements which fans of the hero will be familiar with."

The Penguin is said to be the main villain in the story and there's a chance we'll see a few other villains from Batman's rogue gallery pop up as well. This new film version of this Penguin is said to based on the Emperor Penguin version and he's been modeled after "a very dapper looking Richard Armitage."

It was also rumored that there might be a female version of Robin, but that hasn't been confirmed. I imagine that we'll learn more about it at Comic-Con next month. At least that's what I'm hoping for!

AQUAMAN is Said to Be “An Extraordinary Step” That Sets The DCEU “on the Right Path.”

I have high hopes for Aquaman and I'm excited to see exactly what director James Wan delivers. I've seen some early footage from the film that has blown me away, but now the executives at Warner Bros. are sharing their thoughts on the film and they are ecstatic and confident about it!

EW recently spoke with a few executives over at Warner Bros. and as you'll see, they are pretty pumped up. I don't think they've ever shown so much excitement over a DC film before it was released. Wonder Woman turned out great, but before it hit theaters, the studio worried that it was going to bomb.

When talking about the upcoming film, Warner Bros. film chief Toby Emmerich said:

"James has done an incredible job with his team. The film is taking you to a different place and imagining the underwater world in a way you haven’t seen before."

One of the film's producers Peter Safran, says that the movie has "got the great action you expect, it’s got a lot of great humor, it works on so many levels … it’s a testament to James’ unique vision. I think it’s an extraordinary step in DC Universe that sets it on the right path."

Former DC Entertainment president Geoff Johns, who also worked on the script, explained:

"The underwater stuff has never been executed like this before. The visual effects shots coming in are just beautiful. James can switch modes from horror to big bright colorful action to really emotional scenes. He’s so able to hit all these different genres.”

This is all very exciting to hear and it's in line with everything that I've seen, now we just have to wait and see what the final product will be like. However, you can expect to see the seven undersea kingdoms, giant octopi and Atlanteans riding great white sharks into battle.

We'll know more about what we can expect when the first trailer is released, which is said to be happening very soon. The thing is, if the powers at be at DC and Warner Bros. are actually making statements about how good it is, it means they must have faith that James Wan delivered something special.

Jason Momoa will be joined by Willem Dafoe as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II(The Get Down) as Black Manta; Ludi Lin (Power Rangers) as Murk; with Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna. Here's the synopsis:

Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface.

Aquaman is set to be released December 21, 2018.

New BUMBLEBEE Featurette Focuses on Director Travis Knight and His Vision For The film

That first Bumblebee trailer that was released was pretty incredible. A lot of fans were shocked by how great the movie looks. It's amazing what a difference a director can make. All we've gotten over the years is a bunch of silly eye-candy filled films from Michael Bay, and then director Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) jumps in and actually gives us a Transformers film that looks true to the source material and actually finally brings some heart and soul to the franchise. After all these years, Knight may actually get it right!

We have a new featurette for you to watch today that focuses on the director and his vision for the film. It's actually very encouraging.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

The movie also stars John Cena (Ferdinand), John Ortiz (Kong: Skull Island), and Kenneth Choi (Spider-Man: Homecoming).

Bumblebee opens December 21, 2018.

George Lucas Reveals Details on His Original STAR WARS Sequel Trilogy and Says Fans Would Have Hated it

Before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney he was planning to make Star Wars Episode's VII, VIII, IX. He even met with the core cast to return. Over the years, we've gotten little bits and pieces about the trilogy he would have made, and today we have some more information to share with you.

Lucas shared the information in the book, James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction, and after sharing those details he says that fans would have hated it. So here's the information he revealed regarding the story:

"[The next three Star Wars films] were going to get into a microbiotic world. But there's this world of creatures that operate differently than we do. I call them the Whills. And the Whills are the ones who actually control the universe. They feed off the Force."

He then adds:

"If I'd held onto the company I could have done it, and then it would have been done. Of course, a lot of fans would have hated it, just like they did Phantom Menace and everything, but at least the whole story from beginning to end would be told."

His concept he was looking to dive into certainly would have been interesting. He would have really dove into the whole midichlorian thing and explain it all and it would have gotten even more weird. But yeah, fans probably would have hated it because you just can't make some Star Wars fans happy. No matter what anyone does, including the creator, there is no pleasing 100% of the fans.

In 2012, Lucas did an interview with The New York Times, and in that interview, Lucas had this to say about the fans when asked if he would make any more:

“Why would I make any more when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?”

Yeah, that's still happening. Anyway, The Star Wars franchise has moved on without Lucas, and the Lucasfilm saga is about to be closed out by J.J. Abrams. These films haven't even come close to touching on the things Lucas was planning.

What are your thoughts on the plans that Lucas shared here? Would you have liked to see him realize his vision? Do you think fans would have liked that more than what we've been given?
