Michael Keaton’s Classic 1983 Comedy MR. MOM is Being Developed as a Digital Series

One of my favorite Michael Keaton comedies is a 1983 film called Mr. Mom which was written by the great John Hughes. I enjoyed watching this movie all the time when I was growing up. Who would have thought that when I grew up I would have a job working from home allowing me to have my own crazy Mr. Mom adventures.

It’s now being reported that the classic film is being revived as a digital series by MGM. This is part of a new partnership with Walmart-owned streaming platform Vudu. They intend to produce “a slate of short-form scripted content adapted from a library of classic intellectual property that offers the opportunity to serialize everything from James Bond to The Pink Panther.”

The producing team and executives behind the series see Mr. Mom as a way to “capitalize on the nostalgia parents have for the entertainment choices they grew up with, and their desire to share that content with their children.” Julian Franco, head of AVOD content and advertising at Vudu had this to say:

“As parents, we want to share with kids the TV shows and movies that we grew up with. They made us feel something. the Reality is we want our kids to feel the same thing too.

“We thought it would be a good first step for us. We’re going to reboot it. IT’s an American classic. Anybody that remembers it loves it.”

I can understand that. The series is said to be a “continuation of the baby Megan’s story, when as a grown adult, she wants to go back to the work force and her husband must go on parenting duty.”

If they get a good team or writers and a talented cast, this could end up being a decent and enjoyable series. But, I doubt it will be as good as what we got in the original film.

Sony Confirms PSN Name Change Option For The PS4

Ever since the launch of the PlayStation 4 five years ago, players have been bombarding Sony to allow them to change their PSN Online ID on the console. After years of resistance, Sony finally confirms that it will begin testing the feature allowing players to change their name on the platform as it enters the PlayStation’s Preview Program.

Currently, the feature is only available to players who have previously registered as testers for PS4 system software betas. For everyone that is registered and has access, the first name change will be for free. However, subsequent changes will cost $10 for regular users and $5 for PlayStation Plus members.

Changing your name in PSN is rather simple. All you have to do is access the feature via the settings menu or the profile page of your PS4. From there, you can simply change your name, which even includes the option to display your previous PSN ID alongside your new one so friends can recognize you. It is important to note that the decision to place your old ID beside your new one will be crucial because you won’t be able to change this after you decide whether or not to display your old PSN ID.

Another thing to remember is that not all games will support the name change. However, Sony revealed that it will be compatible with all PS4 games released after April 1, 2018, and “the majority of the most-played PS4 games.” In case the player encounters issues related to the name change, Sony will allow you to revert back to your old ID for free.

The preview program will run until the end of November this year, and Sony plans to make the feature available to all users in early 2019. Lastly, the company also promised to release a full list of compatible games before the feature is rolled out worldwide.

Matthew McConaughey and Kate Beckinsale Join Guy Ritchie’s Crime Drama TOFF GUYS

After he’s finished with Disney’s live-action Aladdin, director Guy Ritchie is going back to his roots and helming an original British crime drama called Toff Guys. Now we’ve learned that Matthew McConaugheyKate Beckinsale, and Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding are set to star in the film.

This is a great cast for Ritchie to work with and I can’t wait to see the characters that he ended up creating for them to play.

The story for the film explores the “collision between European ‘old money’ and the modern marijuana industry. It follows a British drug lord attempting to cash out on his highly profitable empire by selling it off to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires.”

I imagine that McConaughey will be playing the Oklahoma billionaire and Beckinsale and Golding will be a part of the British drug ring.

The film is said to be "in the vein of the “high-energy British gangster pics with A-list talent that helped launch Ritchie’s career, like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.” I’m a huge fan of those two films, so I’m very much looking forward to Toff Guys.

Here’s Our First Look at What Vin Diesel Will Look Like in BLOODSHOT

Thanks to some comic book variant cover art we have our first look at what Vin Diesel will look like as Bloodshot. The art was created by Diesel's favorite Bloodshot artist Lewis LaRosa for Bloodshot Salvation #12 and this is a signed copy from the actor for the charity fundraiser Game4Paul. Vin Diesel partnered with Xbox and donated several items to help raise money for Walker's charity Reach Out WorldWide.

As you can see, the art reveals Diesel's likeness as Bloodshot for the first time and he looks pretty badass! It will be cool to see the live-action version of this design.

Bloodshot, a super-soldier created by the secret government organization Project Rising Spirit when he was brought back from the dead through the use of nanotechnology and suffering total memory loss, and struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants called Chainsaw.

Bloodshot has powers of regeneration, technomancy and meta-morphing, which was made possible through nanites that were injected into his blood.

The movie also stars Toby KebbellMichael SheenEiza GonzálezTalulah RileyAlex Hernandez and “Outlander’s” Sam Heughan

The studio will start shooting in July and it's being directed by Dave Wilson, who is Deadpool director Tim Miller's partner at Blur Studios. The film is being written by Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and the studio is looking to develop it as an R-rated film that is being likened to Robocop, Terminator, and Total Recall. They want it to have that classic 1980s tone.

Here are the details on the comic:

TOP GUN: MAVERICK Set Photos Features Tom Cruise Back on His Motorcycle

Tom Cruise is back on his motorcycle, wearing a bomber jacket, and rocking aviator sunglasses in these new two photos from the set of Top Gun: Maverick. It’s good to see that Pete "Maverick" Mitchell hasn’t chanced his style since the 80s.

Top Gun: Maverick is currently shooting in San Diego with Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) at the helm.

The sequel centers around Maverick who becomes a Top Gun flight instructor and Goose's son joins the program. The relationship between Maverick and Goose's son is certainly going to make for an interesting story dynamic.

It also stars Miles Teller as Goose's son, Val Kilmer, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Lewis Pullman.

Top Gun: Maverick is set to be released on July 12, 2019.

CAPTAIN MARVEL Star Brie Larson Has Signed on For Seven Marvel Films

UPDATE: Brie Larson says that this news isn’t true but offers no other details. So her contract with Marvel and Disney could include more films or less. But I’m sure she’s still sign on for more than two movies.

In case you’ve been wondering how long Brie Larson is going to be playing Captain Marvel in the MCU, THR is reporting that she has signed on for seven films! Depending on where the story arc leads over the course of these films, that contract could be extended just like Marvel did with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and several other members of the MCU cast.

With Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, Larson has already got two films out of her way, so she’s got five Marvel movies left in her current contract. Along with sequels to her solo film, it’ll be fun and interesting to see what other MCU films that she ends up being a part of.

Captain Marvel is being built up as the new leader of the MCU, much like Tony Stark has been over the past ten years. She is also the most powerful being in the MCU and there’s no doubt that the creative team at Marvel is going to have a lot of fun playing with her in whatever films they decide to include her in.

Scarlett Johansson Will Make $15 Million For Starring in Marvel’s BLACK WIDOW

After appearing in six Marvel movies, Scarlett Johansson will finally get her standalone Black Widow movie and that comes with a pretty hefty paycheck. According to THR, the actress will make $15 million to star in the film.

According to the report, that salary equals what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth have earned for playing Captain America and Thor in Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, and the upcoming Avengers 4.

Scarlett Johansson has certainly earned the big pay day. Some people might even feel that it’s long over due. Of course, no one is making as much as Robert Downey Jr. who is making $50 million in the Marvel films he stars in!

Black Widow is deep into development and is set to be directed by Cate Shortland (Lore, Berlin Syndrome) from a script written by Jac Schaeffer (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, The Hustle). This is a possible synopsis that was released by a Hollywood trade:

At birth the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative. The standalone film will find Romanoff living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union.

This places the story in 2006, which is two years before the first Iron Man movie, which is set in 2008. Natasha Romanoff would be 22-year-old. A lot of fans expected the story to take place in the past, we just didn’t exactly know when exactly when.

Black Widow is a badass character and I’m looking forward to seeing her backstory unfold in this upcoming film.

NBC is Developing a Series Based on a ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER Character

NBC is developing a new series that will be based on a character from the popular novel Abraham Lincolm: Vampire Hunter.

The title of the series is The Last American Vampire and it’s described as a supernatural thriller that follows the character Abby, “a young analyst, as she’s recruited into a special division of the FBI that investigates unique and mysterious cases. While working on her first case tracking a string of bizarre murders she discovers her new enigmatic partner also happens to be a 500-year-old vampire.”

This actually has potential to be a good series and I’m curious to see how it turns out. Terry Matalas will write the script for the series and executive produce along with the author of the novel, Seth Grahame-Smith and his producing partner David Katenberg.

Matalas is the co-creator of the fantastic Syfy Channel series 12 Monkeys. He also worked on Nikita, Terra Nova, and Star Trek: Enterprise.

Mr. Glass and The Beast Team Up in New Trailer For M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS

All week the new trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass has been teased with motion posters of the three main characters. Well, today that new trailer has arrived and it packs powerful punch of awesomeness! The trailer includes some super cool new footage and also reveals some new details regarding the story.

Mr. Glass teams up with The Beast in the story to take on David Dunn so that Mr. Glass can prove to the world once and for all that these people with extraordinary powers exist.

Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn, Samuel L. Jackson is Mr. Glass, and James McAvoy is Kevin Crumb. The film also stars Anya Taylor Joy as Casey, Sarah Paulson as Doctor Ellie Staple who will be treating patients who believe that they have super powers.

This looks like it’s going to be a great film and after all these years since the first Unbreakable movie was released, it’s exciting that Willis and Jackson will be facing off again! Then there’s McAvoy, who is bringing a crazy beast into the mix! I'm really curious to see what the big twist at the end of this movie will be. I wonder if it will bring the story to a close or actually set it up for something bigger.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Glass will be released on January 18th, 2019.

ASSASSIN’ S CREED ODYSSEY Sold More Than Origins In Its First Week

After Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s launch earlier this month, the game was able to overtake the first week sales of its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Origins. Moreover, Odyssey also sold more than both Unity and Syndicate, with Ubisoft revealing that Odyssey has had “the franchise’s best launch-week performance of this console generation.”

"We are incredibly proud of what the team accomplished with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and humbled by the amazing reception from critics and players," Ubisoft’s Geoffroy Sardin said. "Launch is just the start of this epic journey. We have robust content plans for Assassin's Creed Odyssey that will keep players engaged and exploring the game's beautiful and compelling world for a long time to come."

Ubisoft attributes the high review scores of Odyssey as the primary factor that boosted sales as the developer revealed that the game even sold twice as fast as Syndicate after it was launched last week.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft PC.
