Teaser Trailer For The Sci-Fi Thriller FREAKS with Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern

A teaser trailer just popped up for an interesting new film called Freaks that previously wasn't on my radar. The movie is described as a "genre-bending psychological sci-fi thriller" and this is the synopsis that was released:

A disturbed father locks his bold 7-year-old daughter in a house, warning her of grave dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for family, freedom, and revenge.

There's still a lot about the story for the film that remains a mystery. Even the teaser trailer is pretty vague, but I'm intrigued by what I'm seeing. I was also surprised to see Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern in the movie! I'm a huge fan of Bruce Dern.

The movie also stars Amanda CrewGrace Park, and introduces Lexy Kolker as Chloe. The film is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Watch This Amusing “True Hollywood Story” Promo For THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS

Remember those episodes of E! True Hollywood Story? Well, STX Films has released a new promo trailer for their upcoming R-rated puppet film The Happytime Murders and it's done in the style of that True Hollywood Story show. It focuses on the infamous The Happytime Gang and how their lives completely fell about after becoming famous. I like that this promo offers us a little background on the characters that the upcoming film revolves around.

No Sesame. All Street. The Happytime Murders  is a filthy comedy set in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with a shared secret, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together again to solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved classic puppet television show.

The Brian Henson-directed film stars Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale, and Elizabeth Banks. The Happytime Murders hits theaters on August 24th, 2018.

Weird Al Yankovic Is Jumping Into The World of Virtual Reality with a New Comedy Short Called SHADY FRIEND

Weird Al Yankovic is one wild, crazy and fun entertainer. He's best known for his silly parody music but has also dabbled in film and TV over the course of his career. Now, he's going to play in the world of virtual reality.

Variety reports that Weird Al is set to star in a new VR comedic short film called Shady Friend that is being produced exclusively for the Positron Voyager VR motion chair. It sounds like it's going to be quite a crazy and trippy experience. Here are the details:

The resulting short film will include not only motion, but also scents and haptic elements — which should make for an interesting experience, given the topic. Shady Friend is all about a heartbroken hero who accidentally takes some psychedelic drugs his less-than reputable buddy has brought over to his apartment.

That should be fun! The short will also star former SNL writer Nick Kocher, Nick Rutherford (Brigsby Bear) and Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights). The film has already been shot but there no word on when or where we'll be able to watch it. The film was directed and co-written by Andrew Disney and this is what he had to say in a statement:

"What I love most about the Voyager platform is that it allows filmmakers to curate VR experiences in a cinematic way. Positron has created quite an amazing tool for immersive storytelling."

This is the first time a VR film has been produced exclusively for these Voyager motion chairs, which are so far only available in select theaters and VR centers.

Netflix Releases a Feel-Good First Trailer For ATYPICAL Season 2

Netflix has released the first trailer for Atypical Season 2 and I actually found it quite moving. As a fan of the first season, I'm looking forward to seeing the story of these characters continue. You can tell that there's a lot of heart that went into creating this series, which is one of the reasons why I love it. This is definitely a feel-good show that is meant to inspire and I like where things are headed in Season 2.

Atypical is a coming of age story that follows Sam (Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum as he searches for love and independence. While Sam is on his funny and emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the central theme: what does it really mean to be normal?

The series stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Rapaport, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Amy Okuda, Nik Dodani, and Jenna Boyd. The series is set to return on September 7th.

DAREDEVIL Season 3 Image Shows Matt Murdock Stalking a Daredevil Impostor

A photo from Daredevil Season 3 has surfaced online and it offers us some interesting insight into one of the plotlines of the series. The image, which you can see below, shows Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) lurking in the shadows as he's stalking what looks to be a Daredevil impostor.

In case you're not familiar with Frank Miller's Daredevil Born Again comic book story arc, which is what Season 3 is said to be based on, this is one of the plot elements. It'll be interesting to see what other story elements from this classic comic will find its way into the series.

In the comic, Kingpin arranges for a violent mental patient to be released from an asylum to dress up as Daredevil to try and kill Foggy Nelson to draw Murdock out of hiding. I'm not sure if that's how things will play out in the series, but I'm sure it will be close to that.

Season 3 will also see the return of Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin. Newcomers to the series include Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie) as an FBI agent and Joanne Whalley (The Borgias, Gossip Girl, Wolf Hall) as Sister Maggie, who is Daredevil’s mother.

Daredevil Season 3 will premiere on Netflix in 2018.

Disney’s LADY AND THE TRAMP Film Casts Thomas Mann

We recently learned that Tessa Thompson will be providing the voice of Lady from Disney’s live-action Lady and the Tramp film. Now, we know who Lady’s owner will be. Variety is reporting that Thomas Mann (Me Earl and the Dying Girl) has been cast in the role of Lady’s owner, Jim Dear, who decides to get rid of her after the birth of his child.

The story Follows "a pampered cocker spaniel named Lady whose comfortable life slips away once her owners have a baby. When, after some tense circumstances, Lady finds herself on the loose and out on the street, she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt Tramp. A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady’s household, threaten to keep them apart." Lady and the Tramp is being released in 2019 exclusively on Disney’s upcoming streaming service sometime next year and it will be directed by Charlie Bean (The Lego Ninjago Movie, Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack). As you might imagine, most of the animal characters will be brought to life with CGI technology.2

THE FLASH to Begin Production February 2019

If you’ve been wanting news about the film, The Flash, I have a good update for you! ScreenRant is now reporting that the film based on DC's famous speedster will begin production on February 5, 2019.

Ezra Miller will be back to star as the comedic hero in the film and the only other confirmed cast member is Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are set to direct the film using a script written by Joby Harold.

It’s looking like the film will not adapt Flashpoint as previously thought. With that being the case,  what story do you want the film to tell?

This start date makes it very possible that we’ll be seeing the film in theaters in 2020.

Netflix Renews GLOW For Season 3!

Hey, Glow fans! I've got some great news for you! Netflix has renewed the female wrestling series for a third season! This is a fantastic show filled with characters that make it so much fun to watch. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the story arcs for these characters play out over the course of another season.

The series is inspired by the short-lived show from the 80s and it follows a character named Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom in the form of women's wrestling.

The second season, which was released back in June, was better than the first season. Hopefully, Season 3 will continue that trend with an even better season.

GLOW was created by Liz Flahive (Homeland, Nurse Jackie) and Carly Mensch (Nurse Jackie, Orange Is The New Black, Weeds). The series also stars Betty Gilpin (Nurse Jackie, True Story) and Marc Maron (Almost Famous, Marc Maron: Thinky Pain).

Are you happy to hear that Glow is getting a Season 3?
