We’ve got a Japanese trailer for DC’s Aquaman for you to check out today that features some really cool new underwater battle action! Director James Wan has done some pretty epic stuff for this movie and it looks like is will features some pretty epic Lord of the Rings style battles!
I never thought I’d be excited about seeing an Aquaman film because I’ve never really been a fan of the character. He’s always kind of been the butt the DC jokes, but the movie actually looks like it will be a blast!
Aquaman will center on Aquaman as a reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis who is caught between land dwellers that are always polluting the globe and his own people who are ready to invade the surface.
Aquaman stars Jason Momoa and he will be joined by Willem Dafoe as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (Green Lantern) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Get Down) as Black Manta; Ludi Lin (Power Rangers) as Murk; with Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna. Here's the synopsis:
CBS is developing an interesting new supernatural police drama called Far Rockaway. Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek: Discovery) is producing the series and it based on the Spanish format series titled Estoy Vivo. The show is being written by David Wilcox (Bull, Fringe, Legends) and this is what it’s about:
A workaholic NYPD detective killed in the line of duty is granted a second chance to return to earth in the body of another cop in order to bring his killer to justice and heal the fractured family he left behind.
I’m in! This sounds like a solid concept that will make for a good series. Although, there was a series that FOX produced a couple years ago called Second Chance, which centered on a murdered cop who was brought back to life in the body of a younger man. I don’t remember it being very good, so maybe this one will be better.
So far, there’s a decent creative who are working on bringing this story to life. It’s also good to see that Kurtzman will be involved with the development of shows other than Star Trek, which he is currently overseeing at CBS.
The awesome Captain Marvel trailer that was released last week now has a fun animated mashup thanks to Darth Blender! To create the animated trailer, he used clips from the following: Avengers Assemble (2013), Captain Marvel (2019), Ultimate Spider-Man (2012), Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes (2010).
These animated mashup trailers are always fun to watch and as you’ll see, this Captain Marvel one turned out great! Enjoy!
A lot of fans are speculating that Chris Evans’ career as Captain America is going to come to an end with Avengers 4. There’s a good chance that he’s not going to live through that adventure. But the career of Chris Evans will live on!
According to Variety, the actor has just signed up up star in a new limited series being developed for Apple called Defending Jacob. The series in based on a 2012 novel of the same name by William Landay and it tells the story of a father whose 14 year old son is accused of murder.
That certainly sounds like it’s going to be an intense story. The series was created, written, and executive produced by Mark Bomback (War for the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Outlaw King), who will also serve as showrunner. This will also be the first TV series that Evans will star in since the 2000 mini-series Opposite Sex.
Here’s the description of the book:
Andy Barber has been an assistant district attorney for two decades. He is respected. Admired in the courtroom. Happy at home with the loves of his life: his wife, Laurie, and their teenage son, Jacob.
Then Andy’s quiet suburb is stunned by a shocking crime: a young boy stabbed to death in a leafy park. And an even greater shock: The accused is Andy’s own son—shy, awkward, mysterious Jacob.
Andy believes in Jacob’s innocence. Any parent would. But the pressure mounts. Damning evidence. Doubt. A faltering marriage. The neighbors’ contempt. A murder trial that threatens to obliterate Andy’s family.
It is the ultimate test for any parent: How far would you go to protect your child? It is a test of devotion. A test of how well a parent can know a child. For Andy Barber, a man with an iron will and a dark secret, it is a test of guilt and innocence in the deepest sense.
How far would you go?
I assume Evans will be taking on the role of the father Andy in the film and it’s a role that I’m sure he’ll be great in.
Assassination Nation isn’t your typical teen comedy, but depending on your taste, that could be a good thing. The film is written and directed by Sam Levinson takes you from Sixteen Candles and leads you right into The Purge.
We’ve got a new international TV spot for the upcoming Bumblebee film for you to watch today. It may be very short but it’s packed full of new footage! That footage includes Optimus Prime, Soundwave, Ravage, and it even gives us a glimpse of Cybertron!
Not only is this movie going to tell a great story and actually give the fans some decent character development, but the designs of the Transformers are freakin’ rad! Director Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) actually brought to life the designs of the original animated series, which is what the fans wanted in the first place! I excited about this movie!
This promo teases that a new trailer is coming tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. Check it out!
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
It was also revealed that Bumblebee has escaped from Cybertron to Earth and he's being hunted down by a Decepticon jet. We thought this jet from the trailers was Starscream, but it's not. It's another Decepticon named Blitzwing.
We also learned that two other Decepticon villains, Shatter and Dropkick, who are voiced by Angela Basset and Justin Theroux are also hunting Bumblebee, and they team up with the U.S. military to try to catch him, which is where John Cena comes in. These characters are triple-changer transformers! They turn into muscle cars, as well as a Harrier jet and helicopter.
Power Rangers Beast Morphers is getting ready to debut in 2019 with many reports pointing to February. We already know who will be playing the three Rangers, but there are still plenty of roles to fill. In fact, five more actors have been announced. Cosme Flores will play Ben, Kristina Ho will be Betty, Liana Ramirez will play Roxy, Abraham Rodriguez will portray Nate, and Colby Strong will be Blaze. Unfortunately, we don’t have any additional about these characters, so they could all be allies or foes or a mix. Given those names, what role do you think each of these characters will play?
UglyDolls will now star four musicians and two comedians as Blake Shelton joins the party. Shelton joins Kelly Clarkson, Gabriel Iglesias, Nick Jonas, Pitbull, and Wanda Sykes. He will play the unofficial mayor of Uglyville named OX as well as perform some original music for the film like his costars.
UglyDolls will come to theaters in 2019 and start a universe that includes a new children’s show at Hulu.
When it comes to horror, there aren’t many who do it better than Lee Hardcastle. I say that geniunely, as who else in horror today can leave you visibly rattled by claymation animation? With that said, the famous internet creator is back with a new anthology series that is guaranteed to make your stomach turn called Spook Train! The first episode is up, and its as disturbing and as messed up as you’d think. Ugh, I almost don’t want to watch the rest of this series after watching that, but man, it’s so good. Check out the first episode below and let us know what you think:
Director Todd Phillips has given us out first official look at Zazie Beetz in the role of Sophia Dumond in Joker. Her characters has been described as "a single mother who catches the interest of the man who will become the Clown Prince of Crime." It’s also been said that she has been "worn out by the grind of the city" and is "just trying to catch a break" with life.
We don’t know much more about the character beyond that, but she is likely going to the love interest of Joaquin Phoenix’s character Arthur Fleck. We recently got our first look at Phoenix in full make-up as Joker and for the most part it seems like fans like it.
Beetz is a solid actress and it’s going to be interesting to see how the story arc for her character plays out in the film. Check out the photo of Beetz below and let us know what you think.
The studio describes the story as being an "exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale."
Joker is "meant to be different from other comic book superhero movies". The story is also said to "delve into what it took for the Joker to become a mastermind criminal" and rumor has it that the film story was inspired by The Killing Joke and that it revolve around a failed comedian who ends up becoming a criminal.
Joker is due to begin shooting September in New York. The studio has set an October 4th, 2019 release date.
