John Krasinski Says He’s Currently Writing the Sequel To A QUIET PLACE

We’ve known for awhile that Paramount Pictures was developing to sequel to the hit horror film A Quiet Place. It was previously reported that writers Bryan Woods and Scott Beck were developing a story for the sequel, but now it appears that John Krasinski has come with with the story and is currently writing the script.

During a recent Q&A via The Hollywood Reporter, explained that he initially told Paramount to do the sequel with somebody else since he “had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere.”

He went on to say that after the studio and producer Andrew Form heard some pitches, Form told Krasinki to think about his idea a little longer. “And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

He didn’t say what the idea was, but he did previously share an idea he had where the sequel would explore who was on the other end of the fires in the fist film.

"The thing that I loved in the movie. Where my mind kept wandering as we were making it, was the question of who was on the other end of those fires, when the father lights the fire and in the distance, those other fires light up. How did those people survive? How did that old man survive?

"In the extreme, these characters are going through, there’s no room to think about that. They’re there, there’s an old man who’s about to scream, they just have to deal with that. I think it would be interesting to see what’s going on elsewhere at this same time."

I assume this is the idea that he is going with, but we’ll just have to wait and see. That’s an interesting way to move forward franchise. I'd like to see a story that focuses on a completely different group of survivors.

It’s funny, Krasinski never really thought about making a sequel, he’s said, "To be perfectly honest, it was never really on my mind while we were making it. I never really thought of it as an expanded world; I always thought of it as a one-off."

But now, here he is writing the sequel and I’m sure fans are curious to see what exactly he comes up with. What would you like to see a sequel to A Quiet Place?

The sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 15th, 2020.

An Early Draft Of The HALLOWEEN Script Has Revealed How Dr. Loomis Was Going To Die

Earlier this week we hit you with the information that John Carpenter prevented Danny McBride and David Gordon Green from killing off the character Dr. Loomis in their new film. Carpenter explained he thought the decision would’ve angered quite a few Halloween fans, and he was persuasive enough that he convinced the men to remove the scene from the film.

Since then, Bloody Disgusting has revealed an early draft of the film’s script, which breaks down exactly how the two originally planned to kill Loomis. This scene takes place during the original finale of Halloween, where Loomis shoots Michael out of the window and saves Laurie. This time around, however, things don’t work out that way.

“The Shape GRABS LOOMIS’ THROAT and throws him to the wall. Loomis drops the gun on the floor wheezing for breath. The Shape CHOKES Loomis, who struggles against the wall. 2. The Shape’s thumbs crush Loomis’ THROAT. He drops to the ground, DEAD. The Shape looks down at Loomis’ lifeless body.”

As Loomis goes limp, a bullet just misses Michael. It’s Laurie, sobbing, “No…” She fires over and over, sending Michael out the window and over the balcony. Here, Laurie peers over and sees the Boogeyman laying on the ground and continues to pull the trigger:

“Laurie shivers, holding the gun in the shadows. She moves to the edge of the balcony and aims the gun at The Shape’s body. She pulls the trigger but the gun is empty. She keeps pulling the trigger…”

Here, the cops arrive and swarm all over Michael as the camera follows Laurie back into the house.

“Laurie sobs, shivering against the wall, still holding the gun, still pulling the trigger over and over again in the dark…”

What’s interesting to note here is that this scene wouldn’t have just killed off Loomis, it would’ve retconned Carpenter’s original ending to Halloween. Personally, I think that would’ve pissed fans off a lot more than killing off Loomis? Luckily, Carpenter changed their minds and we can assume the film is better for it. Would you have been upset if that scene kicked off the new Halloween?

A few days ago, PUBG on the PC had experienced several server interruptions. Yesterday, routine live server maintenance was performed, and players were unable to connect to servers and received a message saying that a “network lag” was detected.

This Japanese Poster for ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL is Pretty Cool – “The Angel Awakens Into a Warrior”

Alita: Battle Angel may have been pushed back, but we have a new poster that seems to kick things up a notch. Most of the clips I’ve seen look interesting, but don’t seem to point to any kind of “Battle Angel” but rather just someone fighting to defend themselves.

This poster wants to help change my mind. We see Alita using what appears to be blood as war paint under her eye. The poster also features the tagline, “The angel awakens into a warrior.”

James Cameron is producing and Robert Rodriguez is directing the film which will be based on the Gunnm graphic novel series by Yukito Kishiro. Rosa Salazar and Christoph Waltz will star alongside Jennifer Connely, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, and Jackie Earle Haley.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.

Alita: Battle Angel will be released February 14, 2019. You can watch the latest trailer of the film here.

Trailer For The Ridley Scott-Produced Post WWII Film THE AFTERMATH

Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for a new film set short after the events of World War II called The Aftermath. The stars Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke, and Alexander Skarsgård, and it tells the uncomfortable story of a group of people that end up sharing a house together in Germany. Here’s the synopsis:

THE AFTERMATH is set in postwar Germany in 1946. Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley) arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in the bitter winter, to be reunited with her husband Lewis (Jason Clarke), a British colonel charged with rebuilding the shattered city. But as they set off for their new home, Rachael is stunned to discover that Lewis has made an unexpected decision: They will be sharing the grand house with its previous owners, a German widower (Alexander Skarsgård) and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and grief give way to passion and betrayal.

The movie is based on the 2013 book of the same by Rhidian Brook and Ridley Scott is a producer on the project. The film was directed by James Kent (Testament of Youth) and it looks intriguing, especially with its cast.

The Aftermath will be released in theaters on April 26th, 2019.

Marvel Comics is Retconning CAPTAIN MARVEL’s Long-Running Origin Story

Marvel Comics is making a big change to Captain Marvel’s long-running origin story. Since the 1977 Ms. Marvel No. 2 was released, the origin story for the character has always been that she obtained her awesome powers through exposure to an alien device known as the Psyche-Magnitron. When it exploded Captain Marvel shielded Carol Danvers from its radiation with his own body, causing Carol to absorb much of his own genetic template.

Well, in the the fourth issue of the “Life of Captain Marvel” series by Margaret Stohl, Carlos Pacheco and Erica D’Urso it’s revealed that the hero did not gain superpowers this way. Apparently, she’s actually been a member of alien race the Kree all along.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the comic established that Carol’s mother is, in fact, a member of the alien race the Kree, making Carol a Kree-human hybrid from birth as opposed to the result of an accident related to a male hero. The Psyche-Magnetron, instead of altering Carol’s DNA, ‘activated’ Carol’s inherent superpowers, her mother explains, making them in her words, ‘not borrowed. Not a gift. Not an accident’ — a purposeful shift that befits the company’s repositioning of the character as a model of female empowerment.”

So, now Captain Marvel’s 40-year origin story is defunct. Obviously the reason for the change is the upcoming movie. Maybe Marvel doesn’t want to confuse people with two different origin stories so they are ditching the original and replacing it with the new.

I am curious to see how the origin of Captain Marvel will play out in the film. I imagine it will be something very similar two what we are seeing here in the new comic. What are your thoughts on these changes to Captain Marvel’s origin?

The Captain Marvel movie is set in the 90s and it follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) “as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.”

The film will debut in theaters on March 8, 2019.

Lex Luthor Will Be Coming To National City in SUPERGIRL Season 4

I’ve been wondering when we would see Lex Luthor show up in DC’s Supergirl series. He’s been teased in the series, but now it’s been confirmed that he will finally be showing up in Season 4!

The news was confirmed by the producers of Supergirl, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller, and in a joint statement they said, “We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season.”

The went on to say, “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe-to-toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister, Lena Luthor.”

It will be interesting to see what his story arc in the series will end up being. We don’t know who will be playing the character yet, but the report says that casting for the role will begin shortly.

Luthor made his first appearance in DC Comics back in the 1940s and he’s one of the most recognized and iconic villains in the DC universe. Over the years, the character has been played by Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Jesse Eisenberg, and Michael Rosenbaum.

Hackman and Rosenbaum are my favorite iterations of the character and it will be interesting to see who will end up playing Luthor next. I hope they get someone good!

Are there any actors that you would like to see take on the role of Lex in Supergirl?

ASSASSIN’S CREED ODYSSEY Cancels Its First Elite Mercenary Event

After undergoing unspecified technical difficulties, Ubisoft was forced to cancel the first of the “Elite Mercenary” limited-time events in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The event was supposed to go live this week and would have allowed players to embark on rare quests and hunt for rare loot.

Sadly, Ubisoft is unable to find a solution due to server problems saying that the event will be canceled for the time being. In the developer’s announcement via Twitter, Ubisoft revealed that Damias “was intimidated by the idea of facing the misthios. He’ll give you a fair fight as soon as we track him down.”

As of the moment, Ubisoft announced that the events will resume on October 23. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was released earlier this week for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Review: HALLOWEEN is Like The TERMINATOR 2 of Horror Movies

The Halloween franchise has made a big and exciting comeback with a new sequel from director David Gordon Green and writer Danny McBride. John Carpenter was also a creative consultant on the film who also provided the wonderfully creepy musical score. Carpenter has said several times that he’s really happy with how the new Halloween film turned out and has said that it will scare the shit out of audiences.

So does the film live up to the expectations that have been set? Hell yeah, it does! All of those reviews that you’ve read praising the film were right on the money. As a long time fan of the Halloween franchise, I loved it! It’s easily the best sequel that has been made in the franchise.

Is the film better than the original film? Of course not! That’s a silly question. The original is a horror masterpiece, but the sequel definitely gives the franchise a fresh new relaunch that awesomely captures the spirit of the original film.

Even the complete overall style of the film is reminiscent of the original. The cinematography, the script, the way the shots were set up, and obviously the musical score. It’s almost as if Carpenter was the brains behind the movie. It certainly felt like a John Carpenter film and I really appreciated that.

Like you’d expect from a Halloween movie, there are plenty of thrills and chills. There are some great scary moments in the film that I’m sure will terrify audiences. Since I’m more desensitized to these kinds of films, I don’t really scare that easy. I just found the horror aspects of the movie more fun than scary. But, if you do scare easy, there are plenty of scenes that will make you jump out of your seats.

The movie also features some well-placed humor and there are also wonderful callbacks to the original film and some of the other sequels. Some of which we’ve already pointed out over the past months. I won’t get into the details of that kind of stuff here because I want to preserve the cinematic experience for you.

I will say there is one scene near the end of the film that fans of the original film are going to flip over. They audience I saw the film with had such a great reaction to it and it’s just one of those scenes that made the movie so great. Don’t worry, you’ll know it when you see it.

It really was awesome seeing Michael Myers and Laurie Strode face off again and their big moment in the the story does not disappoint! Jamie Lee Curtis was in top form in this movie! She had the same kind of badassery that Linda Hamilton had in Terminator 2. In fact, the basic plot of Halloween is very similar to the plot of Terminator 2!

Both films center around a strong woman who survived a crazy experience in their past of being hunted down by a killer and then they spend years preparing for the killer’s return so they could defeat it. All the while everyone thinks they’re crazy. Then killer returns and chaos ensures and the women kick ass.

As much as a liked the film, there was one aspect of it that I could have done without. I can’t really get into without spoiling anything, but I will say that it involves the psychiatrist character who takes over the care of Myers from Dr. Loomis. This character had a strange story arc that I didn’t care for. I get what they were trying to do, but it just fell flat for me.

Halloween is a direct sequel to the first film and it’s set forty years after the events of the first film. It also stars Judy Greer as Karen Strode, the daughter of Laurie, and Andi Matichak (Orange Is the New Black, Underground) plays Allyson, the granddaughter. Then there’s Will Patton and Nick Castle. Everyone delivered wonderful performances.

If you’re a fan of the Halloween franchise or a horror fan in general, then you’re most likely going to have a blast watching the movie.
